Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory, Pavilion 🍗 Menu + Review

May 11, 2017

Hi guys, welcome back to my blog! Today's post will be all about Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory located in Pavilion KL!

Chir Chir is actually Korea's largest 치맥/chimaek chain, and if you don't know what chimaek means, it basically means chicken + maekju (beer). They have over 100 stores in Korea, China, Taiwan, Indonesia and Singapore and they're finally available here in Malaysia!

Address:
Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, 168, Jalan Raja Chulan, Bukit Bintang, 55100 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Opening hours
10am to 10pm
Open Daily

The restaurant is located in Pavilion's new Pavilion Elite wing. If you're coming from the Sephora/Starhill Galleria side, you can take the lift down to level 1.

The place is quite big, but since it's very popular, I think it would be better to reserve a table in advance.

I really liked the Korean vibe of the place! It wasn't too in your face and looked very casual; perfect for lunch out with your friends or dinner with your workmates!

I was super curious on what Chir Chir means, and after asking, I found out that it's actually named after the sound that oil makes when the chicken is being friend 😂

Enough chatting about the place, on to the main reason why you're reading this post: the menu! Chir Chir focuses mainly on chicken, and they have a wide selection of flavours to choose from. I was told that their chicken is fried only upon order, so you can bet their chicken is not pre fried or frozen! The flavours are also sauces and marinades from Seoul, so the flavours and tastes among different Chir Chir branches are all the same!

As you can see below, the menu isn't as extensive as other traditional Korean restaurants since they focus on Chimaek, but they do have other dishes like salads, tteokbeokki and chicken feet.

Btw Chir Chir is pork free! :)

Since it's a chimaek place, it wouldn't be complete without beer! They are currently serving local beer, but they informed us that they would be changing to Korean beer soon. All the drinks look cute, colourful and interesting!

Since there was a lot of us in our group, we managed to taste and try a lot of the flavours and the drinks out. So without further ado, on with the food porn!

Chir Cream Beer | RM24.90 (350ml) , RM34.90 (650ml)

This was Bo, Tammy and Gareth's drink! I sipped a bit from Bo's mug, and it was pretty interesting! I never tried beer with cream before, and the cream actually gives the beer a sweet/creamy feeling to it.

If you're curious why there's cream foam in the first place, it's because it was inspired by Korean dramas 😂 Almost all the good ones have coffee kiss, a latte kiss or some form of kiss that involves cream!

Blueberry Sparkling | RM18.90

This was Tammy's second drink, and it was a blueberry concentrate and you're supposed to pour in soda water and mix it in. The berries were fresh and weren't frozen too 👌

Passion Yellow Tok Tok | RM32.90 alcoholic , RM24.90 non alcoholic

This was kind of a shared drink among all of us, and it was pretty fun to watch! Its basically a cocktail infused with soda water, but the soda water was fizzed right in front of us!

The jar was able to fill up 6 cups, which actually suprised me because I thought it was just gonna be ice lol. It's definitely better to get this if you're in a group.

By the way, we got the non-alcoholic versions.

The Tok Toks are also available in Berry Purple (blueberry and berries), Blue Sky (blue lemonade) and Blue Marine (green grape)

Next, here are the drinks Anis and I got!

Humongous right! I actually ended up liking her drink and she ended up liking my drink 😹

Raspberry Double Smoothie | RM32.90 (with soju), RM24.90 (without soju)

This is basically a smoothie with ice blended mango puree with raspberry flavoured slush and freshly whipped cream. It was sweet and just to my liking!

It's also available in Aqua and Mojito~

Red-gizer | RM24.90

I chose this one because to me it was the most interesting looking drink. Its a combination of mango and strawberry syrup topped with Red Bull, and the Red Bull actually slowly releases as you sip through your drink.

For me it tasted more Red Bull-y and the mango/raspberry flavour came was more subtle. I like Red Bull, don't get me wrong, but the sweeter smoothie stole my heart haha.

Now, on with the food!

Mango Salad | RM21.90

We started off with the mango salad, and it was pretty huge! Definitely a big enough appetizer for our group. The mangos were sweet an juicy and the salad tasted alright.

Toppoki & Cheese | RM15.90

This was a very cheesy and savoury appetizer! Although in restrospect, it was probably the plainest in comparison with the chicken flavours (I'll get to that later), but as an entree it was so good! Super cheesy and chewy! The cheese wasn't too much or too jelak either 👍

Spicy Toppoki | RM29.90

OMG this was hella spicy! Definitely more spicy than the infamous black spicy noodle, but it was good! I especially liked the fish cakes and the fried squid paired with the spicy sauce. Although I love spicy food I always can't help but sweat, and this definitely made my whole face sweat like cray! (Luckily my makeup didn't melt off haha)

Now on to the main stars of this restaurant: the chicken! On Chir Chir's menu I saw that they had 12 types of fried chicken, 3 types of roasted chicken and 3 types of nest chicken. We managed to try 6 types from all three categories!

Crispy Fried Chicken | RM49.90
Spicy Chicken | RM56.90

The crispy fried chicken (or the original plain one) was not oily at all! We actually asked them if the chicken was air fried or not, and they said that it wasn't! It's just less oily because of their cooking technique. It made eating chicken so much more guilt free haha.

The pieces were quite big compared to other Korean chicken restaurants, and the taste was just 👌👌👌

The spicy one was nicely marinated and coated with the sauce. The succulent meat is actually marinated for up to six hours coated with batter and deep fried! Although it said spicy, this was still up my alley and still very enjoyable.

Chir Chir actually has a very innovative tool for eating chicken; check out my chicken claws!

They're mini tongs you can use to pick up the chicken! You can also request for plastic gloves for an even cleaner eating experience, but I was fine with having just the tongs. My hands were clean and oil free throughout the meal!

Nest Snow | RM62.90

These are spicy chicken tenders served on a sweet potato puree bed with cream sauce, olives and peppers, topped with a swirl of whipped cream and generous hints of parmesan, cheddar and mozzarella.

This was pretty heavy and filling because of the potato, and I think this would be perfect if you were really hungry.

Spicy BBQ Roasted Chicken | RM62.90

This chicken was super spicy!!!!! I cannot stress that enough! I was quite skeptical about the taste so I tried the toppoki first and omg if my sweat beads were drops before this, after it they were BUCKETS. It was truly spicy, but I found myself eating more!

The chicken was surprisingly smooth and soft, and that was actually because compared to the first three which were fried, this was roasted. It was marinated for 12 hours before being roasted to perfection in the oven (not deep fried like the others).

It also comes with some salsa, a whole salt-baked egg and a baked potato with sour cream.

Next up, surprise surprise, more fried chicken!

Honey Butter Chicken | RM56.90
Spicy Wings | RM48.90

The spicy wings came with toppoki (which were slightly less spicy). Since the previous roasted one was spicier, I found this one slightly milder and more savoury (although honestly I don't remember the taste that much haha)

This next one, however...MAIGOSH. MOUTHGASM! The honey butter fried chicken is my fave out of all the flavours we tried that night!

Its crispy battered chicken, potato wedges and fried topokki generously glazed with Chir Chir's own honey butter sauce and finished with honey butter seasoning powder, dried cranberries and sliced almonds.

It was very similar in taste to the super popular honey butter chips that were all the rage last year, and we were also told that it was the most popular flavour in Chir Chir Singapore! I think it deserves to be number, because it was really to good 😭 Just thinking back on it now makes my mouth water! It also comes with with honeyed mayo garlic dip for an extra dose of flavour, but I think it was perfect on its own.

We left Chir Chir super full that night, and since there was too much chicken we all ended up tapau-ing them home as well (which was awesome because being single and being alone means no one to cook for me 😂). The chicken still tasted great the next day!

Overall I think I would give Chir Chir a rating of:

Atmosphere: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The place was clean, well ventilated and just overall nice, although I think having a large party may be a bit tight. They said it was more packed on Fridays and weekends but it was a full house when we went even though it was a Tuesday, so I recommend calling in for a reservation to avoid being disappointed!

Also, since its Pavilion, Imma go ahead and be bouji and say you might meet famous people here as well 😂 No, I'm not talking about me, I'm talking about the famous atas people of KL. Lucas Lau was actually there eating dinner with his managers (I think) too, and I felt like such a stalker snapping him lol so I didn't say hi 😂 anyways, you get my point!

Food: 🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗

I cannot stress how good the chicken is! The plain one is pretty friggin good on its own already, but their variety of chicken is really wide and really good! If you do drop by, I highly recommend the Honey Butter chicken, the original chicken and the spicy wings! All different and all good 😍

Price: 💰💰💰

I have to admit the price is a bit expensive, but taking into consideration the size of the chicken, the number of chicken pieces given (15 for the fried and 12 for the wings), I think it's pretty worth it! One platter of 15 can easily feed 4 people, and an average of RM60 for 15 pieces means that each piece costs RM4. Where to find such a nicely crispy an awesomely flavoured chicken at that price! I think it's definitely worth trying out at least once (omg have I already mentioned how good the honey butter chicken is pls go try), or going during special events and outings.

And those were my thoughts on Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory! If you guys have any questions, you can contact them on their Facebook or Instagram!

As always, thank you guys so much for reading! See y'all in the next post 💕
