Flos Cafe 2021 Visit • Chanel Beauty Mini Haul

May 5, 2021

Hi guys! Today I'll be sharing all about my recent visit to Flos Cafe, as well as my mini Chanel Beauty haul!

If you guys haven't already read my previous post about Flos, please click here to read my detailed review. The place and service is still the same, and I love them for that. I really recommend dropping by if you'd like to snap nice pictures or try out some delicious desserts.

Flos frequently changes their menu, so one afternoon before MCO3.0 started, I decided to drop by and treat myself. (I also dropped by to take some pics for Huxley's 5.5 campaign hahaha)

Here are the items I ordered:

FLOS CAFE
Dalgona Café Einspänner
RM25

Einspänner is one of the most famous coffees of Vienna, Austria, and it comes in two shots of espresso topped with lots and lots of whipped cream. Flos's einspänner coffee comes topped with Dalgona, which I think a lot of people are familiar with at this point.

Like I saw from their IG, I broke the Dalgona and mixed it in:

I prefer my coffee sweet so I had some expectations for this. It did dissolve but not completely, so I did end up taking a few sips and chewing on some Dalgona bits. Overall I enjoyed it, but it wasn't as sickly sweet as I wanted it to be hahaha.

FLOS CAFE
Passionfruit Orange Entremet
RM22

Passionfruit mascarpone entremet, Orange compote, puff pastry base

Entremets in French cuisine historically referred to small dishes served between courses but in modern times more commonly refers to a type of dessert. More recently they’ve become a way of chefs showing off their pastry prowess by way of creating a complex cake made up of various layers of different dessert techniques.

Flos's entremet comes in a cute heart shape and although I really enjoyed the tangy & citrusy flavour of the passionfruit mixed with the orange compote, I unexpectedly really liked the puff pastry base as well. It's not basic at all and tasting it, I could definitely tell that they paid attention to every single detail.

FLOS CAFE
Banoffee Saint Honore
RM22

Dole banana purée custard, Callabaut 70.5% dark chocolate, Dulce de Leche, vanilla chantility

In my previous post, I mentioned that a Saint Honore is a classic French dessert made of a circle of puff pastry at its base with a ring of pâte à choux piped on the outer edge. Their previous menu consisted of a genmaicha one, so I was really excited to give this one a go.

I have to say that I really enjoyed this as well! The dark chocolate blends well with the banana puree custard, thus giving it its banoffee flavour. The Dulce de Leche and Vanilla Chantility was also delightful, and I overall was super satisfied. It exceeded my expectations and I definitely highly recommend you guys to try it out as well.

As I chilled and had my desserts, I also managed to take a picture of some Chanel Beauty products I recently got as gifts from my friend Zihang! You can find her on Instagram at @zhbeautydesk

First up we have a sample of Chanel's 1932 Eau de Parfum from their Les Exclusifs de Chanel line of perfumes.

It seems like most of the luxe beauty stores has a luxe perfume line now that borders on extortionate haha. Chanel is no exception, and their Les Exclusifs de Chanel range of fragrances are composed of rare and intricate ingredients.

1932 in particular is a Floral Woody Musk fragrance for women.

Top notes:
Aldehydes, Neroli and Bergamot

Middle notes:
Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang, Lilac, Rose and Carnation

Base notes:
Orris Root, Musk, Ambrette (Musk Mallow), Vetiver, Opoponax, Sandalwood, Vanila, Coumarin and Incense

According to the website, 1932 was the year that Gabrielle Chanel launched her first High Jewelry collection, which she called "Bijoux de Diamants" (which stemmed from her fascination with stars).

Personally I feel that this scent reminds me a bit of Chanel No 5 because of the Aldehydes. Once it settles it is a bit more floral, and I find it a more tolerable version of No 5 hahaha.

Next, I also got the Rouge Coco Flash in the shade 78 Emotion

When this line of lipsticks were released, they were all over Instagram and I couldn't go online without seeing them at least once everyday.

According to Chanel, it has a high shine finish and can be applied easily onto the lips in a stroke. With a glide-on, melt-away and ultra-hydrating texture, it transforms into a shiny oil on contact with the lips for a sensation of absolute comfort. Because it creates a thin coating of glossy oil that reflects the light, this lipstick offers an intense high-shine result.

I've yet to try it yet as I don't really have any events to go to at the moment, but I'll update what it looks like on my Instastory so do follow me there.

To complete my flatlay, I included the YSL Le Cushion Encre De Peau Luminous Matte Cushion Foundation. Click here to read my review if you haven't read it yet!

Overall it was a quick yet sweet getaway. Flos really does feel like a hidden spot in a busy city, and I recommend visiting it after the MCO/whenever you're in town.

And that's it for this post! I hope you guys found it helpful and informative.

See y'all in my next post!
