Velvet Vanity Liquid Matte Lipstick Review

October 16, 2017
Hi guys, welcome back to my blog! Today's post will be my review on Velvet Vanity's Liquid Matte Lipsticks.

Velvet Vanity Liquid Matte Lipstick

Nowadays more and more Malaysian liquid lipsticks are popping up in the market, and I love it! Velvet Vanity was one of the first ever local brands I came across on Instagram, but at the time I wasn't really into matte liquid lips yet so I didn't venture any further. Fast forward to now, liquid lips are one of my fave makeup products to play and experiment with because they're just so bold!

I just got two shades of their Liquid Matte Lipsticks: Shook and Legit. Their liquid lips are 100% vegan & cruelty free. They're also made here in Malaysia!

First off the teal packaging is such a standout from other local lipsticks' packaging here in Malaysia! It kinda reminds me of how Jeffree Star's lipsticks are super pink haha.

The wands come packaged individually in unicartons. The lipstick is stored in plastic component with a doe foot wand as the applicatior.

The doe foot brush is pretty easy to work with, and I didn't have any struggles getting my lines to be sharp ๐Ÿ‘Œ

As I mentioned, I got two shades: Shook and Legit.

Shook is a dark plum purple while Legit is more of a nude-y purple. Legit looks kinda gray-ish on my skin but Shook literally had me shook! ๐Ÿ˜

The colour is so nice! Deep plum/purple looks so nice on my tan skin, and I just love how bold it looks! I mentioned in my previous video that I LOVE The Face Shop's Inkgel Pencil eyeliner in Burgundy, and this lip matches with that liner perfectly.

Texture wise, both liquid lipsticks are quite thin and easy to apply. One thing I noticed is that Shook feels slightly thinner. You can't really see it on my lips but if you scroll back up on my arm swatch, you can see that it was slightly patchy.

I don't really mind this because #1 it doesn't show on my lips and #2 it looks friggin amazing on me haha.

The smoothness of it is different from other liquid lips I've tried in the sense that it doesn't immediately dry down. It has a thin/smooth kind of creamy texture, and I love it. This means I can take my time to perfect my lip shape without worrying and rushing to complete it before it dries. Ya know what I mean?

The best thing about these lipsticks would be the SMELL! They smell like chocolate! ๐Ÿซ When you put it on you can still kinda smell it and OMG this gave me so much chocolate cravings ๐Ÿ˜ญ I wore it out and ate cheese naan + McDonald's and it didn't really move/budge. It does claim that it doesn't work well with oily food, so do keep in mind that you might have to be extra careful.

Overall I would give this liquid a solid 4.5 over 5. The only fault I can really find with it is the slight streakiness of Shook when swatched. The thinness of it can be layered away and it doesn't translate on my lips, so I still really really recommend Shook for anyone looking for a purple lip this coming holiday season! I'm really impressed with the quality and I'll definitely go for more lips from them. They have an orange shade called Smash Hit and...I'm intrigued ๐Ÿ˜ธ

Each liquid lipstick comes with 6ml or 0.2 fluid ounces. Each one costs RM59 but you can use my code ๐Ÿ’ฐ VVFISHMEATDIE ๐Ÿ’ฐ to get RM5 off ๐Ÿ˜‰ You can check out their website and all the other shades they have at shopvelvetvanity.com!

As always, thanks for reading and see y'all in the next post!
