Q1. WHAT DOES FISHMEATDIE MEAN?

My name is Eros and most of my classmates in high school were Chinese. One day, my friends and I were thinking of a Chinese name for myself, and ended up with 鱼肉死 (yu rou si) because its sounds like Eros. Fishmeatdie is basically the direct translation of 鱼肉死 (which is a phonetic play on my name)

Q2. WHEN DID YOU START BLOGGING?

I was introduced to the world of blogs by one of my BFFs Sammi when were in our first year of high school (2009). I started out just blogging about random stuff that was currently happening in my life, kinda like a diary for me to rant in. A year after that (2010) I started getting into K-pop and Korean culture, so I started blogging about that too.

I blogged mostly about the music I loved throughout high school bus started posting less around 2012/2013 since I was preparing for my O-level exams. During 2014 I kinda took a break from blogging as I was a bit depressed thinking about college and my future, but around July to August I started college and started blogging again.

After starting college, I started taking an interest in things like beauty and skincare as my skin condition was quite bad. I was introduced to Hermo.my (an online cosmetics retailer) by another BFF Caryn, and I got obsessed. I bought products from them and that was when I started posting product reviews.

During college I also met one of my good friends Denise and we both shared a passion for cafes. Every now and then we would visit cafes and that sprouted our mini series "Cafe Hopping with Eros & Fufy".

Q3. WHO DO YOU LOOK UP TO?

In terms of blogging, my ultimate idol would be Yutaki James.

I found out about him while I was in high school through Instagram and initially thought he was Japanese (he's Singaporean). His aesthetics were so on point and I loved his self photography style. In my product review photos, I sometimes try to imitate his beautiful flatlays.

In 2013 I won a copy of his third photobook "A Flower Boy's Tale" and its one of my most treasured items. I may seem a bit obsessed, but I'm not haha. I just really look up to him and aspire to be as beautiful and as talented as he is one day.

Q4. WHERE DO YOU LIVE?

I am from Laguna, Philippines but I'm currently living in Malaysia. I moved to Ipoh in 2008, started college in Penang in 2014 & currently working in Kuala Lumpur!

Q5. DO YOU WEAR MAKEUP?

I started experimenting and wearing makeup myself only recently (2016), but I remember back when I was in form 3 I would watch Bubzbeauty and Michelle Phan's makeup videos daily. I was always interested in makeup and the ability to enhance your features. Nowadays more and more guys are starting to wear makeup and there are also more people online that tell people it's okay to wear makeup, no matter who you are.

From personal experience I found wearing makeup to be a hard step to make. I was scared of being made fun of, but when I got over that fear and just thought "What the hell?", I felt happier. The most I actually put on is just brows, foundation and contour, but even on normal days with just brows I feel like I've overcome a part of me that was always scared of doing something that makes me feel good and doesn't affect other people at all.

If you're curious, my makeup idols on YouTube are Jeffree Star, Manny MUA, PatrickStarrr, NikkieTutorials, Miles Jai, Jackie Aina and of course Bubz and Michelle. For Korean beauty Youtubers I also really like Ssinnim, Pony and SunnyDahye.

Q6. DO YOU EDIT YOUR PICTURES?

Yes, I do.

Ever since I started using social media back in high school, I remember always editing and adding filters to my photos. I think this was mainly because I had a lot of acne, but after some time I found a joy in editing. I saw what could be improved and improved it. To me, editing/photoshop is nothing but digital makeup.

People may think that I'm dishonest for posting edited photos online, but I do have my limits. For diary posts and just normal selfies I edit, but for my Product Review posts here on my blog, I do not retouch them at all :) my opinions and results are 100% honest!

Q7. WHAT DO YOU USE TO EDIT YOUR PICTURES?

I don't use Photoshop (although I would really like to learn) but I use 3 smartphone apps: Line Camera, MeituPic (美图秀秀) and VSCO.

Q8. WHAT DO YOU USE TO TAKE YOUR PICTURES?

For selfies and normal days I usually use my Samsung Galaxy S6, but sometimes I use my Canon EOS 700D

Q9. FAVOURITE SHOWS?

I watch shows when I can, but I have a sad tendency to not finish things hahaha. I enjoyed Scream Queens, Glee, Ugly Betty, Pretty Little Liars, The Nanny, RPDR, Keeping Up With the Kardashians and various Korean dramas.

Q10. FAVOURITE ARTISTS?

My ultimate favourite artists would have to be Girls' Generation, followed closely by EXO. These two groups were my life back in high school and although I'm not as crazy as I was back then, I still keep up with their activities and their music.

I also really like SHINee, GFriend, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Ariana Grande, Jesse Glynne + a lot more that I can't really think of right now.

Q11. DOGS OR CATS?

I'm a dog person, but I recently got to actually touch a cat after 19 years of my life and contrary to my belief that cats would scratch me to death, they're actually not that bad.

Q.12 WHAT COLOUR IS YOUR HAIR?

I have naturally black hair but as I'm typing this, it's currently blue! I like dyeing my hair and using it to express my creative self. Although I tend to lean towards "normal" and "safe" colours like brown and blonde, I've dyed my hair red, orange and blue, and plan on dyeing in green and purple in the future, just so I can say I've tried every colour in the rainbow hahaha.
