Etude House AC Clinic Daily Acne Foam Cleanser Review

January 30, 2016

Hello everyone! Today's post will be my review on Etude House's AC Clinic Daily Acne Foam Cleanser!

So to start off, if you read my skincare reviews, you probably would have seen that a while back, I reviewed Etude House's Red Spot Balm that was also part of their AC Clinic line. (If you haven't already read it and is interested, click here!)

To me it was a so-so product, but the trial size cleanser that came with it was actually okay, but I didn't purchase it because my cleanser wasn't finished and my skin wasn't really breaking out at the time. When I went back to Melaka in December last year, I suddenly started breaking out! Keep in mind that before that, my skin was pretty much calm and I only had one or two small "pop-able" pimples (which are usually hormonal/because of stress) which popped up every two weeks or so.

When I flew back to Melaka for some reason, my jaw area started breaking out a lot and my cheeks also started to have a few clusters of pimples (that I couldn't resist but extract a few). Because of this sudden breakout, I decided to try out more products from Etude House's AC Clinic line, namely Daily Acne Foam Cleanser and the Daily Toner.

This week's review post is actually a double update, so please do check out my review for Etude House's AC Clinic Toner as well! (Click here to read!)

So without further ado, on with the review!

Disclaimer: This is my honest review and was not paid to make this post. This is my honest opinion!

WHAT IS IT?

So first off, this wash is from Etude House's AC Clinic line which targets problem skin. This wash in particular was designed as a daily cleanser for people with combo, oily or acne prone skin.

This product claims to be:
1. An effective makeup remover
2. Supplies rich foam
3. Removes acne causing germs from the skin and keeping it clean the whole day

It is formulated with Salicylic Acid, Triclosan and Sandalwood oil (which I will be talking about later).  This product is also non-comedogenic (won't block pores) and is Dermatologist approved. Perfect for people with oily/acne prone skin like me!

WHERE TO BUY

I bought the full sized 150ml tube from Hermo.my for RM35.50, and I think the price is very good for the size of the product. The original product retails at RM49

PACKAGING

The product comes packaged in a matte green tube and I love that it's matte.

Brand new products are sealed in plastic and the opening also comes sealed.

INGREDIENTS

This wash has Salicylic Acid which is a common ingredient in acne products. In treating acne topically, there are a lot of creams out there, and they are mostly Benzoyl Peroxide and/or Salicylic Acid (although for washes I've noticed that SA is more common).

Salicylic Acid
1. Helps correct abnormal shedding in cells
2. Helps unclog pores, therefore helping with inflammation and redness
3. Helps calm skin

Triclosan
1. An effective antibacterial agent that helps with the process of killing bacteria
2. It is also a popular ingredient in acne washes.

Sandalwood oil
1. Has a skin softening effect
2. Popular home remedy for skin problems such as dark spots
3. Has anti-tanning and anti aging properties
4. Has itch relieving properties

TEXTURE AND FRAGRANCE

This was has a white creamy texture which is slightly thick and although it says its a foam cleanser, I find it less foamy and less bubbly than other foam cleansers that I've used before.

It smells minty and pleasantly medicinal.

HOW TO USE

As with all skincare routines, you should start with using a cleanser to wash your face to get rid of all the dirt that has accumulated on your skin. I have tried using this with a facial cleansing brush and just my hands and both methods manage to clean my face thoroughly (although using my hands does create a better lather).

It says that it can remove makeup but for those out there that do wear make up I suggest you remove your makeup with a remover first, not because this won't be able to wash it off (I didn't test that out), but using a separate cleanser will leave you with a more thorough cleanse.

MY REVIEW

The most important thing about this product is that it did not break me out at all and from the moment I started using it, my acne has been controlled and my breakouts stopped. It manages to give me squeaky clean skin and helps calm down irritated pimples as well. My pimples we effectively cleansed away!

The claim that it can keep your skin clean for the whole is of course most definitely not true because if for example if you sweat its not like going to absorb you sweat and give you automatic cleansig right? BUT this product does help with sebum secretion and keeping the oil in the skin at bay. It can't do anything when you sweat, but on days when I just stay home or stay indoors, I don't look as oily as I usually do.

Plus the smell is just great!

MY VERDICT

I most definitely love this product! Definitely a lifesaver for me. I highly recommend anyone who has oily/acne skin this wash because it does a very good job of helping control you skin's sebum and gets rid of dirt very good as well.

WILL I REPURCHASE

Most definitely! This was is one of my faves among the washes that I've tried recently (I actually have a few washes that I tried before this that were just...meh). The size and price is not bad, and its effects are really good especially for combo/oily/acne prone skin types.
