Behati Review • BUSANA CINA 2023 Chinese New Year Collection

January 23, 2023

Hi guys, today I'll be sharing all about these popular Oversized Magua tops from Behati, as well as my thoughts after purchasing + wearing them around during Chinese New Year.

If you haven't already seen it, go check out my preview post here to read all about my first experience with Behati!

For the 2023 Lunar New Year festive season, Behati released a collection of colourful pieces infused with their signature codes and oversized cuts. I have to give them props for their efforts on all the visuals this year, especially their main campaign video:

So cool!

Going off the neon pink trend that the Valentino PP Collection ignited, Behati's BUSANA CINA 2023 Collection's core pieces featured these fun jewel-toned pieces

At the heart of this collection was the Magua Oversaiz, particularly in the fuschia shade

The price is okay in my opinion if you compare it to the other local designers.

I actually managed to check this collection out during the pop-up they had at PJ PAC. I got to try the pieces earlier and purchased as well.

Here I am wearing both the fuschia and the black:

One thing to note: since my previous Behati purchase, they've stepped up their game and branding with new paperbags and boxes. As a buyer from the pop-up store I got a paperbag, but I saw that people who bought from the website got a box instead. Not to nit-pick, but I would have loved to receive a box and a handwritten card (similar to my previous purchase), but maybe I didn't get one since I bought offline. I just think that user experience and a cohesive/uniform packaging still needs to be achieved. I chatted with a few people who bought from them and felt the same. In a sea of choices, customers stay loyal to brands who not only look good/cool, but also give them a nice shopping experience. If team Behati sees this post, I hope this constructive criticism is helpful!

Anyways, I decided to wear the fuchsia to a Lancome event:

I love the colour, and I think the overall design is simple but so effective.

The shape of the top is oversized but it's not without thought, it actually has a silhouette. I love how the top flares out from the front.

Another thing I want to mention that I experienced (as well as other buyers I chatted with) is the quality of the material.

On the plus side, it's lightweight and shiny, striking and vibrant. I wore this top for close to 7 hours during the event and I felt so breeze and comfortable. While everybody was sweating, I stayed cool and fresh. Also, although the material creases, it was very easy to steam the creases out.

On the downside, the material has a slight itchiness to it that comes out after wearing it for a few minutes. The website states that its made from 100% Polyester, and maybe that's the issue. Me and my friends all reported feeling a bit itchy on the inside, and while wearing an inner shirt will fix this problem, I don't really think that's a problem we should have lol.

Anyways, like I mentioned, the silhouette is really to my liking. When I'm angled/from the side, you can actually see that the top flares/balloons up nicely:

How pretty would this Givenchy Kenny bag look with this top!

I wore the black version to the Kuan Sisiters' Dajin Jiemei Street event:

My friend Sachie got the matching emerald green one, and both of us looked so cute!

As you can see, the cut is really flattering on both of us:

Unfortunately, that itching happened with this top too.

I thought it was maybe because it was my first time wearing it and it needed to be washed first to "soften up". However, a few days later I wore it again, with the same itchy feeling.

It's unfortunate that this top has that slight itchy feeling, but regardless, I think it still looks good and I don't regret purchasing it.

And that's it for this post!
