UNIQLO SS22 Media Preview Event

February 13, 2022

Hi guys, welcome back to my blog! Today I'll be sharing all about the Uniqlo SS22 Media Preview I attended, as well as some of my top picks from the upcoming collections.

If you've been following me for a while now, I'm sure you've noticed how much I love Uniqlo. At this point, I think my closet is 50% Uniqlo, and I love how versatile and easy their pieces are.

A while back, I was invited to drop by and explore their upcoming Spring Summer 2022 collections. The event was pretty small and social distancing was practised, and the team made sure everyone could view the collection safely.

For Uniqlos's LifeWear Spring/Summer 2022 Collection, the theme is "The Joys of Clothing". Focusing on the simple joys that come to life when people and clothes find each other, this collection features clothes that captures the energy of city living, fresh outdoor trips, a breezy and relaxing beach session as well as clothing made to fit your everyday lifestyle.

With these theme in mind, let's get into the 4 sub-themes inside the LifeWear SS22 collection:

The Joys of Sun and Seaside – Feeling the Breeze

Featuring linen items that drape effortlessly over the skin, these pieces are soft to the touch and aim to keep you comfortable and feeling free in sea breezes.

Uniqlo has expanded variations of standard linen items and now offers men's premium 100% European linen shirts with stand collars. Women's shirts feature new colours and regular silhouettes for easy wearing as short jackets.

Uniqlo has also released a soft-textured linen-blend jacket and Bermuda pants for women, which pair well together. A new linen-blend kaftan dress with a skipper collar and moderate volume adds to the resort feel as well.

The Joys of Landscape – Feeling at One with Nature

Spending time off in the great outdoors is vital to recharge the mind and body, so for this collection, Uniqlo has come up with functional apparel for walking, cycling, and other activities. This time round, Uniqlo also offers colours and textures that blend in with the scenery so you feel at one with nature.

The highlight of these pieces are the jeans, the uniform blue and the redefined sweatshirts & pullovers. Featuring the unique look and feel of indigo, the items celebrating this hue include stand collar shirts and sweatshirts with oversized silhouettes as well as pairings of work jackets and pants with clean details that look great on everyone.

Here's a snap of my friend Shiv in this season's signature indigo denim!

The Joys of Imagination – Inspiring Functional Beauty

Art and sophisticated designs that stir the imagination offer insights for more comfortable and fulfilling living. These pieces feature vibrant, uplifting colours and the functional beauty of good design.

Uniqlo has released women’s versions of their popular men’s Kando series. The 3D cut of the jacket creates a beautiful silhouette, even when wearing it as a short coat, while delivering exceptional lightness, fast-drying, and stretch functionality.

Uniqlo has also updated their Kando series for men with two-way stretch to fit even more comfortably. Available in cotton-like, wool-like, seersucker, plover, and other fabrics, one of the representatives from Uniqlo was actually sporting a full set:

I loved the look of it, and I just had to try it on! I definitely think I'll be grabbing a full set for myself as well.

The Joys of Skyline - Redefining Urban Styling

We all look forward to returning to good times with family, friends, and colleagues, and these pieces feature clean casual outfits that look great at work and during downtime. People want apparel that is modern, comfortable, and fun to wear, and these pieces aim to mirror that.

One of the highlights is the women's Washable Short Cardigan which just looks so cute! I love the mustardy colour, and I feel like the cropped length strikes a pleasing balance well with high-rise bottoms it's paired with here.

And that's it for the LifeWear SS22 Collection!

However, we still have more things to see. I'm sure everyone is familiar with Uniqlo's collaborations, and I had the chance to preview Uniqlo's SS22 collaboration pieces as well.

Uniqlo U SS22 Collection

If you weren't already familiar with it, the Uniqlo U line is made in collaboration with Christophe Lemaire from the Lemaire brand. In line with Lemaire's codes, the pieces from the various Uniqlo U collections aim to add the practicality and sturdiness of military garb & workwear to your wardrobe, offering simple, comfortable and timeless pieces made with high-quality materials and a neutral colour palette for everyday wear.

I love this line the most because of their colour palette and their utilitarian design. If you'd like to read more about Uniqlo U, I actually explained more about it in my Uniqlo U SS21 review. Click here to check it out!

One item that caught my eye was this bag:

As well as this cute cardigan!

Uniqlo x Ines De La Fressange SS22 Collection

Embodying Ines de la Fressange’s values of “bringing the effortless style of France to the world.” Pursuing true beauty and comfort, this line features essential wardrobes that are loved throughout the ages.

The Parisian-chic aesthetic sense and style of this line helps you to achieve your ideal wardrobe that embodies the desire to mix everything from a different genre, from luxury to vintage, and feels comfortable and easy to enjoy.

I love the classic looks of this line, and I actually got this super pretty blue blazer a few collections back:

This time round, this striking red jacket caught my eye, and I think it's a piece that will be super pretty to style.

Uniqlo x Hana Tajima SS22 Collection

Combining refined elegance and effortless comfort, Hana Tajima is a British-born fashion designer that I think quite a lot of Malaysians would be familiar with. Since 2015, she's been working with Uniqlo to produce contemporary, functional designs, which are both culturally sensitive and extremely versatile

I did a post/lookbook about a FW20 piece I purchased previously, and you can click here to read more about it.

Uniqlo x JW Anderson SS22 Collection

First launched in 2017, Uniqlo's collab with JW Anderson feature's fun an innovative pieces that offer comfort and fun. I love how the designs have such a British flair, and their collection last Christmas was super cozy.

This season, they have pieces that are perfect for a summer day out, and one piece I have my eye on is this super practical tote bag.

And that's it for this post! I hope you guys found this preview fun and that you found a few pieces that interested you.

See y'all in my next post!
