Giorgio Armani Si Passione Eau de Parfum • Armani Beauty Malaysia Review

February 14, 2021

Hi guys! Today I'll be sharing my thoughts about the Giorgio Armani Si Passione Eau de Parfum, as well as my recent experience shopping with Armani Beauty Malaysia during this MCO lockdown period.

I've always seen this perfume around department stores and on Instagram. I've also passed by the newly opened Giorgio Armani Beauty boutique in KLCC and passed it a couple of times. When I think of it, I think of the ads with Cate Blanchett:

I think it's quite effective promotional campaign despite its simplicity, seeing as I can remember it easily + the image above legit enters my head every time somebody mentions the perfume.

Si Passione was released in 2017 and is actually a new edition of the original Si fragrance from 2013. Si Passione is a reinterpretation of the original that gives it a new dimension, described as "an irresistible combination of grace, strength and independent spirit."

Si Passione is available in both an Eau de Parfum and an Intense variant:

The Eau De Parfum is the more iconic variant as it's all I ever see online. It's available in 3 sizes: 30ml, 50ml and 100ml:

30ml • RM248
50ml • RM362
100ml  RM565

This perfume is not available in Sephora Malaysia, but I believe certain department stores here in Malaysia carry it.

The one I have with me now is actually not mine, but my mother's. She got it from a duty-free perfume counter by Luxasia in Langkawi, and the cost of the 50ml bottle she got was RM325.

Not a lot of discount, but that is a 10% discount. If you purchase it from Armani's official website, you can get 10% off anyway if it's your first order (more about that later!).

As I said, this perfume is actually my mum's, but I'll be sharing my thoughts about it in this post + whether or not I think it's worth the splurge.

Firs up, the bottle is classy and pretty. If placed among a vanity full of popular perfumes, it will definitely stand out. Most perfumes targeted towards women rarely come in such bold colours, and I quite like that the strong, bold concept they had for the scent is perfectly reflected in the packaging.

The top notes of this perfume are Pear, Black Currant, Pink Pepper and Grapefruit, giving it a fresh and fruity opening. The middle notes are Rose, Pineapple, Heliotrope and Jasmine, giving it a nice feminine scent. Finally, the base notes are Vanilla, Cedar, Patchouli and Amberwood, evoking warmth and strength.

The original Si also has blackcurrant combined with a sparkling, joyful pear. What makes Si Passione different is the combination of intense vanilla with the blooms of rose, heliotrope and jasmine to create a sensual, fruity floral scent.

The cedarwood and the modern ambery-woody Orcanox also gives the scent maturity and character, making it perfect for a strong woman.

Armani describes this perfume as having an intense, uncompromising scent, made for a confident woman who dares to say yes, and is to embody the red lipstick effect in the bottle.

I can definitely see (or I guess smell lol) why my mum was attracted to this scent. It starts off as fragrant and alluring, with a tint of fruityness to it. It doesn't smell floral which I think a lot of older women tend to gravitate to. There's nothing wrong with florals, it's just that I think that this is a great alternative for someone looking for a mature scent that isn't powdery/rosy.

After a while of wear, it settles in and becomes really sensual. I think this perfume would be perfect for the evening, but you can definitely rock it during the day time if you're going to any important meetings/events. Even if you just want to feel strong! Personally I would not wear it as a daily scent as I prefer lighter, more citrusy scents for daily use, but I do think it's a nice perfume for the night (and I definitely see myself using it because I can't deny how yummy the top notes smell).

All in all, I would recommend this perfume! If you're someone younger or looking for something fresh, this is not the scent for you. However, if you're someone looking for a powerful, sensual scent that isn't floral, this would be perfect.

I mentioned above that I recently had a purchase experience with Armani Beauty online. Some friends of mine actually thought of getting Si Passione for a friend's birthday, and since we're in lockdown and cannot access the physical stores, I decided to try ordering it from the website.

Strangely enough, the official website does not support payments. You will be redirected to their Facebook page, where a sales assistant will assist you with your purchase:

I could have proceeded via Facebook chat, but I remembered that my friend Zihang shops from Armani quite frequently. I asked if she had a contact of a particular SA she shops with, and she connected me with her SA Yennis.

It's basically the same as the Facebook chat - just tell the SA what products you're looking for, they'll provide a link for payment and proceed to process + ship your order.

For all online orders, you can enjoy:

- 5-pc beauty selections with every order
- Free shipping with no min. purchase
- 10% Welcome Offer

I asked about a Christmas set and although it was unfortunately already sold out, the Lunar New Year sets had just been released:

It's basically the same price, just with an extra 15ml bottle.

Unfortunately, the 10% welcome promo does not apply on sets, but since it came with a free 15ml extra bottle, we figured it was okay.

I proceeded to make the order, and the SA was actually really nice and helpful. My overall experiencewith her helping me was really pleasant, and I commend them on that. However, do note that gift wrapping is only available in the KLCC boutique. Online orders ship from their warehouse, so it will only come in a normal brown box.

As for the shipping, I placed an order on February 2. Because of MCO and the holidays, I was informed that there might be a delay. The SA updated me with the shipping on Feb 8, and the parcel arrived on Feb 9. However, the item received was wrong:

My order got mixed up with somebody's lipstick order. I told the SA about it, and on Feb 10, the box with my order arrived:

The delivery man however did not take the wrong lipstick back. When I asked the SA if they would be collecting it back, she said they would, but that she was not sure when they would be collecting it. I found it a bit weird, but after that she had no further updates. I guess I can take that as a sign that my friend can keep the lipstick haha.

And that's it for this post! I hope you guys found it helpful and informative.

See y'all in my next post!
