Dior Forever Cushion Powder Golden Nights Collection Limited Edition Review

December 2, 2020

Hi guys, today I'll be sharing all about the limited edition Dior Forever Cushion Powder from Dior's Golden Nights Collection!

As I mentioned in this blog post back in September, Dior's holiday collection for 2020 is called Golden Nights, and part of that collection is this limited edition cushion powder.

Continuing from the success of their limited edition Diormania cushions, this was definitely on a lot of people's wishlists!

Unlike the Diormania cushion (which is a BB cushion), this product is actually loose powder stored in a cushion case. Now we all know that the whole point of the cushion's size and packaging is portability, so I was a bit confused because I rarely heard of people bringing around portable loose powders (only pressed ones).

Also, although the Diormania cushions were hard to buy as they came in waves + were super hot on Instagram, it was still possible as the boutiques and department store counters stocked up at least 20 of each shade available. For this holiday powder, KLCC only had 2 pieces while Isetan only had 3! I'm not sure if that's a marketing tactic to make people buy it if they're lucky enough to spot it in the coming weeks. All I can say is that I bought this in late October and have not seen it restocked ever since.

This product retailed at RM248 here in Malaysia:

The box packaging is pretty similar to their normal cushions, just that it's remarked that this is Golden Nights.

On their website, Dior describes this product as:

"The 1st loose powder from Dior that sets makeup and gives the complexion a subtle, velvety glow with no powdery effect. To celebrate the holiday season, the loose powder is enriched with golden glitter to perfect the quality of the skin and dazzle all night long.

The finishing touch for your holiday makeup, this loose powder in a cushion format reveals a fresh and silky texture on the skin: infused with water and formulated with wild pansy extract, it respects the skin and improves the quality of the complexion. Even and matte, it is illuminated with a golden shimmer."

The component design is similar to the Dior Forever Couture Perfect Cushion where it features a leatherette finish with Dior's Cannage motif stitching.

Once opened, it looks like any other cushion.

It comes with a fluffy puff for application:

Sealed for hygiene:

And here's the powder itself. There's a soft that keeps the powder back:

I found that the powder was really fine, though it goes gave tendencies to clump slightly. If big clumps are spread on the skin, the glitter/pigment might be too much:

When evenly distributed, it gives the skin a nice glow, giving the skin a festive layer of glitter. I would, however, not recommend using the given puff. Maybe it's just my preference, but I prefer using a fluffy brush to set my makeup/apply loose powder.

Overall it's a holiday novelty item that I'm glad to buy and collect, but probably will not use often, especially on the go. I'm okay with using it as it does set my makeup nicely and give it that slight layer of glitter that's really only visible up close, and I might actually decanter this powder into another container so I can bring it use it with the rest of my makeup without worrying about dirtying the leatherette exterior.

If you're a Dior fan, I definitely recommend picking this up if you manage to spot it. However, if you're looking for a powder solely to use + you're looking more at performance and affordability, there are other suitable loose powders out in the market.

And that's it for this post! I hope you guys found it helpful and informative.

See y'all in my next post!
