AXIS-Y Mugwort Pore Clarifying Wash Off Pack Review

December 26, 2020

Hi guys, today I'll be sharing all about AXIS-Y's Mugwort Pore Clarifying Wash Off Pack!

AXIS-Y is a Korean brand that offers climate-based skincare for everyone around the world. As someone who used to travel a lot, I realized that I usually get breakouts after going on a trip. I tried three of their products last year, and you can read all about them here.

They have since then released more products and extended their product line: the 6+1+1 Advanced Formula line. In line with their Natural, Minimal, Science slogan, it contains:

  • 6 finely selected natural plant extracts (Natural)
Axis-Y carefully selected six natural plant extracts that are safe and beneficial to the skin.
  • 1 core ingredient (Minimal)
Axis-Y uses one core ingredients to solve your skin problems effectively without giving additional burden to your skin.
  • 1 specialized skincare technology (Science)
Axis-Y incorporates a patented skincare technology to maximize the effect of improving your skin health.

AXIS-Y recently sent me 2 products from the line to try out. Just a disclaimer, although the products were sent to me, this review still contains my 100% honest and unbiased review!

The Mugwort Pore Clarifying Wash Off Pack is a cleansing and healing wash-off pack made of 61% Mugwort extract. It helps to clear the pores of impurities, soothe inflamed and irritated skin, and gently exfoliate dead skin to reveal a bright and healthy complexion.

  • Unclogs pores and improves the appearance of pores
  • Calms inflammation and irritation
  • Exfoliates the skin with Adzuki Bean granules

This product contains 100ml/3.38 fl. oz. of product and retails for USD20.

You can find it on their website here.

For my readers living in Malaysia, it is available for sale on & @hellojunghana.

They also currently have a set with this product included:

You can read all about the set here.

Packed in a sealed box, it comes with English information so it's pretty easy to read from off the bat:

The product itself is stored in a tub:

It comes with a lid and a spatula for hygienic scooping:

This product is vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, mineral-oil free and contains no artificial fragrances & colours. It also contains mostly EWG green-level ingredients, meaning it is highly unlikely to cause any irritation.

Like I mentioned above, AXIS-Y has a 6+1+1 system where they use 6 plant extracts, 1 core ingredient and 1 specialized skincare technology.

For this specific product the 6 plant extracts are:
  • Adzuki Bean Seed Powder
    Gently removes dead skin cells
  • Kelp Extract
Revitalizes and nourishes rough and irritated skin, keeping it clear
  • Artichoke Leaf Extract
Prevents skin ageing through its anti-oxidant properties
  • Vigna Radiata Seed Extract
Moisturizes and brightens the skin, improves texture and strengthens the skin barrier to help the skin regenerate its elasticity
  • Houttuynia Cordata Extract
Increases promotion and regeneration of skin cells
  • Nelumbo Nucifera Leaf Extracts
Regenerates skin and controls sebum. It helps to remove free radicals that encourage skin ageing, making dull skin clear and bright

The core ingredient used in this product is 61% Mugwort (also known as Artemesia), and if you're someone who keeps up with K-beauty trends, I'm sure you've heard of mugwort before. It protects the skin from harmful oxygen, revitalizing the skin from damage, soothing & cleansing it in the process

Finally, it uses a specialized skincare technology called Dermatic AC3. This is an acne improvement and immunity enhancement cosmetic composition that contains cedar & lotus leaf extract as an active ingredient.

This product also has Butylene Glycol, Sodium Hyaluronate and Glycerin which are very hydrating ingredients.

It has an almost clay-like texture, but to does not have the dryness that a usual clay mask has. The Adzuki Bean granules are quite gentle and do not feel that abrasive. The scent is quite organic/earthy, and it washes off after washing the mask away.

I use this product after cleansing, and after washing it off, I follow up with toner:

Cleanser - Wash-Off Mask - Toner - Essence - Serum - Eye cream - Moisturizer

Since it does involve extra washing, I tend to mostly only use it at night. I incorporate it into my routine 2-3 times a week!

I think this product is quite good, and I can see why a lot of people have been raving about it on Instagram. I did notice that after using it for a while, my skin feels softer and brighter. Its a great product that gently exfoliates the skin, and the Adzuki Bean granules are definitely gentler that brown sugar scrubs (that I admit I was quite fond of a few years back). I used to exfoliate once a week, but since this is pretty gentle, the mind exfoliation twice a week didn't really hurt my skin nor made to secrete any extra oil.

Speaking of experience while using the product, I quite like the cool, minty feel as the mask dries off. After washing it off, my skin feels soft and plump, and it doesn't feel dry/tight. Along with an overall more even complexion, I do think that it helps a bit in the fading of some of my new acne scars ecause of the high concentration of mugwort.

For redness, I usually only get some on the sides of my nose. Using this specifically on that area does help to subside the redness, helping to calm it down. As for pore appearance improvement, I do think it helps a bit, but I did not see any major or dramatic pore improvements as my pore condition is quite good anyway.

Also, just to mention, I feel like it actually spreads well and I don't have to use as much as I thought I'd have to.

Definitely! For such a clean and vegan product, I think the price-to-size ratio is not bad. It does what it says it will, and I think my overall experience of using it was very good. 10/10 would repurchase again, and I highly recommend you guys to check it out as well.

And that's it for this post! I hope you guys found it helpful and informative.
