Bottega Veneta Carta Kraft Paper Bags - The Pouch, The Mini Pouch, The Shoulder Pouch

July 19, 2020

Hi guys, today I'll be sharing all about the latest season evolutions of Bottega Veneta's pouches for Pre-Fall 2020 in Kraft.

I was passing by the BV store in KLCC when I chanced up these on display:

Bottega's pouch bags have been popular for a few seasons now, and they're still pretty hot. What intrigued me was the paper-looking finish of these new evolutions!

Made of "processed paper", these bags are made of 45% Polyamide, 45% Polyurethane, 10% Paper. To the touch, they feel like smooth, thick paper. I can't believe they actually succeded in translating the pouches' wrinkly look in a material that wasn't leather, and I love how unconventional but "every day" the bags look. I was also told by the super friendly SAs that these bags are waterproof!

For reference, although these bags are limited edition special pieces, they cost slightly less than the originals because of the materials used. Also, there's one one of each style here in Malaysia and all 3 bags can be found in KLCC.

First up, we have the shoulder pouch:

THE SHOULDER POUCH
USD2,215 • (I forgot to jot down the MY price)

It comes with a magnetic closure and can fit a ton! It's lined on the inside with calf leather:

I'm not a big fan of this style (even back then) just because it seemed a bit too big and bulky for me. In this Kraft finish, the colour looks super nice and not as (dare I say) old compared to the leather version.

I was then shown the original sized pouch:

THE POUCH
USD1,850 • RM8,040

I think what makes this stand out really is the material. This bag has bee replicated so many times by companies both here and in overseas that it's lost its appeal for me. By making it in this paper-like finish, they've made the bag virtually unfakeable! Omg Daniel Lee is such a genius.

As a clutch, it looks like the perfect chic accessory. It gives a bit of a "laissez-faire" vibe haha. You're literally telling people: yes, my style is amazing and I have an 8k paper bag. What about it?

I love it so much, but like the normal versions, this doesn't come with a crossbody strap like the mini versions. When comparing prices, however, this costs 8k+ while the leather mini pouches cost 6k+. If you have an extra 2k to spare, I would recommend getting this big Kraft pouch instead as it's a special edition and you get more space.

Comparing the prices of the big Kraft pouch and the normal mini leather pouches brought me to ask the SAs if there was a Mini Pouch in the same finish, to which they said yes!

THE POUCH
USD1,095 • RM4,750

I lovvvvve small bags and I love beige, and this was just a dream come true! If you compare the colours of the normal beige one above with the Kraft one below it, the Kraft one is less yellow and more neutral.

With a magnetic closure, leather lining and a removable leather crossbody strap, I fell in love. The best thing is that it's almost 2k less than the normal mini leather ones T.T

I really love how this bag looks + the chill vibe it gives off.

Here are a few close-up shots:

In terms of practicality, you can only fit in your bare essentials. I don't really mind it though because we're all so used to small bags at this point. It's a popular trend on Instagram to take pics of the pouches open from above, and when you do it with this, you can barely tell that it's made of paper as the inside leather is all that shows.

It's almost like you're getting a discount for the same bag (which just happens to be a special edition)

I feel like Daniel Lee has done it again and has created amazing pieces of wearable art. These are definitely collector's pieces, so I recommend getting them if you can. I went ahead and reserved the mini one in a spur-of-the-moment decision, but I think I'll cancel it because I don't really have 4750 to spare right now T.T

If you live in KL and are interested in the Padded Casette Bags like me, I just wanted to share that KLCC just got new stocks for the black and white versions:

I also learned that there's a silver and gold version, but that's about the only difference between both versions.

The price now is RM11,540 (cries)

And that's it for this post! I hope you guys enjoyed this post and found it a fun read.

See y'all in my next post!
