Christmas & CNY Hair Makeover • 90's Hairstyle in Bandar Sri Petaling Review

December 17, 2019

Hi guys! Today I'll be sharing all about my Christmas holiday transformation with 90s Hairstyle!

If you guys remember, back in September I posted my review about 90s Hairstyle. Since I quite liked their service, I decided to go with them again this holiday season!

Address:
Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur, Sri Petaling, Jalan Radin Bagus, No.邮政编码: 57000

Opening hours:
Monday - Saturday: 11am - 8.30pm
Sunday 11am - 7.30pm

Contact:

The shop is located in a very nice area near lots of shops, so if you're coming with friends/family, they don't have to wait for you in the shop and lepak somewhere else.

The shop itself is quite aesthetic/clean, and the first thing I noticed was the lack of hair on the floor + the fragrant smell inside. No salon/chemical smell at all!

I was greeted by Jenny (my hairstylist) and was led to my seat:

Although gray hair doesn't last long, I decided to go with gray hair again since I thought it really suited me & my skin tone. I had a really good experience with 90s Hairstyle's bleaching process with Olaplex, so I knew it would turn out nice again.

If you guys don't already know, Olaplex is a line of hair repair, “bond building” treatments. It can be mixed in bleaching products to minimize damage or it can be used as a separate treatment.

When I was still in college, I frequently bleached my hair with 40 volume developer (12% peroxide). This is the highest concentration of developer and is great at lifting your hair. However, it is also the most damaging. I didn't do any treatment at the time, and bleaching my hair by myself this way really made my hair dry and brittle.

When I bleached my hair with Olaplex in September with 90s Hairstyle, I could immediately feel the difference. My hair wasn't as dry and brittle, and it was so soft!

Anyhoo, this time round started off the same as my previous visit. I was led to my seat by Jenny (the hairstylist) and she started off by spraying my scalp with scalp protection to protect it from the bleach:

Next, she went in and mixed Olaplex with the bleach:

In September, Jenny did not bleach my scalp. This time round, I asked her to go the entire way so that my bleached hair would last longer. If you're more sensitive to pain you can ask her to avoid you scalp. I'm quite good with pain and I'm quite used to the sensation so I didn't really mind.

After applying it to my hair, we left it on for 20 minutes. Here's how bright it looked!

While washing the bleach, Jenny applied Olaplex no. 2 as a treatment on my hair and left it in for 10 mins, followed by washing it off.

After washing everything off, Jenny proceeded to dry my hair. I could feel that my hair was still thick! When I previously bleached my hair myself, my hair would always feel finer/thinner and a bit brittle. My hair was actually very soft and felt very nice.

As I mentioned, this time round I'm going for gray hair again.

Jenny suggested adding a bit of blue this time to make it more cool-toned + have a more chic look.

Again, she started with scalp protection:

And she went straight on with the dye:

After around 30 minutes of letting the dye develop + washing it off afterwards, here's the finished look!

Jenny said she purposely made it look slightly two-toned and made the blue tones stand out a bit more (kind of like highlights). I love how it turned out!

Under the sun it looks very refreshing, and under fluorescent lights, it actually looks very natural.

I had a photoshoot a few days later and it turned out amazing because of my hair. Changing up you hair colour and hairstyle really makes a difference!

If you're planning on getting your hair done in time for Christmas or Chinese New Year, I highly recommend 90s Hairstyle. Their service is really good + it's great that they offer Olaplex.

And that's it for this post! Thanks for dropping by, see you in my next one 💕
