Dear Klairs Fundamental Watery Oil Drop Review

November 28, 2019

Hi guys, welcome back to my blog! Today I'll be sharing my review of the Dear Klairs Fundamental Watery Oil Drop.

WHAT IS IT
I first heard about this product on Instagram when they first launched it but didn't really dive deep into reading about it/knowing more about it. It was only when one of my fave Youtubers Rosie used it in one of her videos and recommended it that I decided to find out more about it.

The Klairs Fundamental Watery Oil Drop is a water-based serum with the rich hydration of a facial oil. Enriched with Jeju Green Tea Water, Bifida Ferment Extract and Peptide, this product is an oil-like moisturizing serum that provides regeneration and antioxidation. The nourishing ingredients are delivered in a unique, stick-free formula, and it's recommended to those with oily skin lacking in moisture (aka me!).

WHERE TO BUY
This product originally costs USD31, but it is currently available on Wishtrend's website for only USD26.35.

For the prize to size ration (50ml of product), I would say the price is quite good! The size of the product is quite big + it comes in a minimalist glass bottle.

Wishtrend is currently doing a Black Friday sale where you can apply the code BLACKOUT20 to get 20% off orders above USD150 and BLACKOUT30 to get 30% off orders above USD200.

They're also offering Black Friday bundles/sets, and the 2019 BF Klairs Special package contains 4 items and a rose quartz roller for USD83 (original price USD128).

PACKAGING
When I first got this product it came in a box:

I was pleasantly surprised when I touched the box! It's velvety and feels super luxurious/expensive.

On the box you have info in both English and Korean:

The packaging is glass, and I love how slim and slender it looks. So minimalist!

Since the bottle itself is long, the dropper is also long and slender:

INGREDIENTS
This product is cruelty-free and is free from ethanol, silicon, steroid, artificial colouring and artificial fragrance. It's also vegan!

After analyzing the ingredients, I found the ingredients were mostly EWG green-level rated, meaning they will not or are very unlikely to cause any irritation:

The key products of this serum are Jeju Green Tea Water, Bifida Ferment Extract and Peptide.

Green tea water & extract cleanses away dirt and impurities, leaving skin feeling clean, soft and supple.

Bifida ferment extract acts as a skin conditioner and also strengthens skin's natural microflora. It increases skin elasticity, improves skin barrier and also when applied absorbs harmful UV radiation.

This product also contains ingredients that help with promoting wound healing (Sodium Hyaluronate) and anti-ageing (Ceramide & Vitamin E). It also features highly moisturizing ingredients that those with dry, thirsty skin will love (Butylene Glycol, Sodium Hyaluronate & Glycerin).

TEXTURE AND FRAGRANCE
This product is clear in colour and has no scent.

The consistency is similar to a light oil, but it's very refreshing and lightweight. It's similar to oil but not as heavy-feeling, and it absorbs very quickly into the skin. Once absorbed, it does feel the skin feeling very nourished. It leaves the slightest shine, but disappears over time as it absorbs in.

HOW TO USE
For other facial oils, I use it by dropping 2-3 drops on my palm and patting this on. I thought I would have to do it with this one as well, but since it's actually a serum, Klairs recommends applying 2-3 drops on your face directly like you would a normal serum.

I use this product in this sequence:

Cleanser > Toner > Essence > Fundamental Watery Oil Drop > Mask > Moisturizer > Sunblock

This product can be used both day and night!

MY REVIEW AND VERDICT
I love love love this product! It's been my current obsession. My skincare feels so simple and complete because it really does feel like it's all my skin needs. I usually apply 2/3rds of the dropper's worth on my face, and I love how naturally glowy my face looks.

The finish is non-sticky (which is amazing) with a shiny natural glow, and it feels like nothing on the skin. Super lightweight but deeply moisturizing! I find that my skin feels moisturized all day long, and it also feels very plump and smooth.

Compared to my other oils, I would say this isn't as greasy yet provides the same amount of nourishment that oils provide. I didn't get any breakouts and actually found that it helped soothe my skin a bit whenever I did extractions/clay masks. I didn't notice any noticeable improvements on my pores, but I did notice significantly less oil. I think it's because my skin is well hydrated and does not feel the need to secrete excess sebum.

I tried to add it to my matte foundations to make them glowy + add moisture to my skin, and it really works well. It sheers it down a bit, but I'm alright with that. Nowadays I find myself wanting to stay away from foundation as much as I can, and I love how incorporating this into my base makeup helps provide skincare benefits and nourish my skin at the same time.

Overall I would really recommend this and will personally repurchase it. Because I had such a nice experience with this ampoule, I want to try out the mist as well to see if it's as good!

And that was it for my review of the Dear Klairs Fundamental Watery Oil Drop! I hope you guys found it helpful and informative.

If you're interested it getting it for yourself, remember to use the Black Friday codes I mentioned above!

And that's it for this post. Thanks for dropping by, see ya next time!
