Belif Rose Gemma Concentrate Oil Review

October 22, 2019

Hi guys, today I'll be sharing all about Belif's Rose Gemma Concentrate Oil!

I've always seen this product online and on Belif's store, and I finally got one to try out! From its unique packaging and rave reviews online, it's definitely one of Belif's most iconic products, and I'm here today to share my thoughts about this product with you guys!

WHAT IS IT
Belif's Rose Gemma Concentrate Oil is an ultra-lightweight oil containing real hand-picked Centifolia Rose Gemma petals. With a blend of 71% oils from natural origin, this oil is said to be rich in anti-oxidants, helping the skin become radiant, moisturized and smoothed.

This product is also supposed to be able to:
  • Have astringent properties to help tighten pores
  • Reduce redness + inflammation
  • Promote wound healing
  • Have a soothing scent

WHERE TO BUY?
The Rose Gemma Concentrate Oil is available in Belif's stores, as well as in THE FACE SHOP'S e-store for RM256. It comes in a 30ml dropper bottle, pretty similar size compared to the other oils I have. If you look at the size to price ratio, I actually think it's not so bad comapred to other luxury brands' oils.

Belif previously used to only be available in Belif's flagship stores in KLCC + Mid Valley, but you'll soon be able to see them more often! Belif will be coming to THE FACE SHOP stores nationwide, and you'll be able to shop all of their best sellers with ease.

PACKAGING
The product comes in their signature gray box packaging, with both English and Korean info:

When I first got this product, the dropper was actually separated from the bottle, and you have to assemble them. The bottle came sealed with this cap:

The glass component is very pretty and would look very nice on any vanity/dressing table.

INGREDIENTS
The ingredients are stated on the box, and according to Belif this product does not contain any mineral oil, synthetic fragrance, synthetic dyes, synthetic preservatives or any animal-origin ingredients.

After analyzing the ingredients, I found that this product contained mostly EWG green level ingredients with a pinch of 2 yellow ones, meaning this product is very unlikely to irritate the skin.

This product is paraben-free, sulfate-free, alcohol-free, silicone-free and EU allergen-free. It contains anti-ageing ingredients (Vitamin E) as well as highly moisturizing ingredients that those with dry & sensitive skin will love (Chamomilla Recutita Flower Oil & Tocopherol).

I mentioned above that this product features Centifolia Rose Gemma petals, but that's not the only fascinating part of this oil. 70% of this product is actually comprised of a blend of 5 natural oils, namely:

  • Centifolia Rose Gemma Oil
    - The main purposes of this oil are to brighten up and moisturize the skin. It also has anti-ageing properties due to the number of antioxidants inside and the nourishing texture
  • Sunflower Oil
    - A great source of vitamin E, rich in nutrients and antioxidants, and is effective for combatting skincare issues like acne, inflammation, general redness and irritation of the skin
  • Camellia Oil
    - Protects the skin from drying out while replenishing vital nutrients. It has outstanding moisture-retaining ability and is one of the most rapidly absorbed plant oils. Known for its ability to penetrate into the deepest layers of the skin. It helps promotes skin elasticity.
  • Sweet Almond Oil
    - Rich in Vitamin E (Tocopherol), this oil keeps your skin cells healthy, protects your skin from UV radiation damage, and helps your skin look smooth. The fatty acids help the skin retain moisture and can heal chapped and irritated skin. It also contains Vitamin A which helps to reduce acne
  • Calendula Oil
    - Has antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties that might make it useful in healing wounds, soothing eczema, and relieving diaper rash. It's also used as an antiseptic

This unique blend of 5 natural oils sink into the skin instantly, delivering moisture and nourishment. This product also contains Napiers Original Formula #2, which removes impurities and improves the skin's texture.

FRAGRANCE & TEXTURE
This oil is super lightweight and comfortable! It has a faint soothing scent and it absorbs very quickly into the skin. It's clear in colour:

The finish is a very very slight natural dewy/glowy finish that feels light and not greasy at all. I was quite surprised because I expected it to look shinier, but it's really only the faintest shine that looks healthy/natural/not excessive at all. Once it is absorbed, it's not sticky and actually makes my skin feel super soft.

HOW TO USE
Like with all my facial oils, I use this product after toning. I put 2-3 drops on my palms, warm them up and gently pat it into my skin. I then follow up with other products.

You can use this oil in several ways aside from directly applying/patting it. You can also use it as a moisturizer booster by mixing 2-3 drops into your cream for intensive moisture or mix in 2-3 drops in your base makeup to get a glowy look.

You can apply more drops on your palms and use it as a massage oil for your face, and you can even use it to banish dry patches on your body by mixing it with body lotion in a 3:1 ratio.

MY REVIEW AND VERDICT
I personally quite like this oil, and compared to my favourite Divine Youth Oil from L'Occitane, it is runnier and does not feel as greasy. It feels really ultra-lightweight on the face, helping to soften it + prep my skin for my next products. The nourishment it gives it about the same, so if you're someone looking for a lighter/more breathable alternative to the L'Occitane oil I recommend giving this one a go.

As for the promised effects:
  • Radiant
    - Yes, I think my skin did look more radiant. Upon initial application, I did look glowy, but with continued use I found my skin looking like it was glowing a bit from within.
  • Moisturizing
    - Definitely! I think this is the #1 feature of this product for me. It's very nourishing and 2 drops can take you so far. The nourishment provided lasts all day, and paired with the lightness I would say this point makes it a winner for me. If you have oily skin like me, you don't have to worry as it did not break me out. Just remember to apply less and to pat it on, not directly drop it onto your skin. If you live in colder weather, adding more drops will definitely help.
  • Smoothening + Softening
    - It was more softening than soothing for me. I felt like once it had fully absorbed, my skin felt ultra soft and baby-like.
  • Have astringent properties to help tighten pores
    - I didn't really see this, and my pores kinda looked the same.
  • Reduce redness + inflammation
    - Yes! I got a pimple on my nose from travelling/stress, and this managed to help soothe that area.
  • Promote wound healing
    - I did not see any immediate effects regarding to wound healing~
  • Have a soothing scent
    - Definitely! As I use my palms to pat this in, I always take a whiff and smell it to de-stress before applying it. The scents is super nice and I think a lot of people would like it, especially before going to bed.

WILL I REPURCHASE?
I think I would definitely consider repurchasing this product. It's quite a good investment too as I only ever use it at night + only see myself using it interchangeably every few weeks. It's definitely way cheaper than my fave oil from L'Occitane + with more product, and I think if I were to choose to repurchase between the 2 I would choose this as it's more affordable, more lightweight + works just as well,

And that's it for this post! I hope you found my review helpful and informative.
