LILYBYRED Bloody Liar Coating Tint Swatch & Review

September 27, 2019

Hi guys, today I'll be sharing my swatches & review of Lilybyred's Bloody Liar Coating Tint!

I first came across Lilybyred in 2017 when they first launched and hired Kwon Hyun Bin to be their model. He was sososososo cute and all their product/IG visuals looked amazing, and I was immediately hooked!

I think it was the first time I saw a beauty brand use guys especially for makeup ads in Korea. There have been a few guys in beauty ads like Shinee for Etude House, EXO for Nature Republic or BTS of VT Cosmetics, but none of them focused on makeup. They mostly focused on skincare and used the guys to tempt their large girl fanbase to buy. Lilybyred was one of the first I saw that actually used their male ambassadors to promote makeup, and I applaud them for that!

Anyhoo, Hyunbin is just super cute and all the promotional images they took with him over the course of his 2 year contract with them was just to die for.

One of Lilybyred's top products is one of their first product launches: the Bloody Liar Coating Tint:

Available in 6 shades, these tints are supposed to have a glossy finish that melts into the lips, creating a vivid and lustrous look.

I've been dying to try these lippies out, but it seemed that no local or major international K-beauty retailer carried them. Fast forward to today (2019), they are now available here in Malaysia via Major B!

Based in Sabah, Major-B is a K-beauty website that carries a lot of trendy and popular brands and products. From staples like Innisfree, Laneige, Klairs & Cosrx to hard to get brands here in Malaysia like Lilybyred & Espoir, they offer a lot! They even have hard to get limited edition items in-stock!

They also have an offline shop in Sabah if you're interested in dropping by:

Lot No.7, 1st Floor, Lorong Kenawai 6a, 88450 Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

For East Malaysia, their shipping fee is RM5 below RM100 and free for orders above RM100. For West Malaysia, the shipping fee for orders below RM150 is RM10/free for orders above RM150. Delivery time takes 1-3 business days, and orders paid by 11am on a working day will be shipped on that day itself!

The Bloody Liar Coating Tint costs RM35 on Major B's website:

Compared to the original Korean price of KRW9,000 (RM32), I think it's very affordable!

The lip tints arrived in a thick teal box wrapped in bubble wrap, and inside it had lots of styrofoam to help keep it secure.

On top of that, they were wrapped in plastic. I'm really satisfied with the packaging of the order! I think this is one of the most secure + pretty looking packaging I've seen for a while. Some sites don't really put much thought into their packaging, so plus points to Major B!

The tints themselves come in aesthetic pink boxes. The packaging is quite minimal and the font reminds me of the brand Soohyang.

There's no English on the packaging:

The shades are marked on top:

It's also marked below each tint. The component itself is supposed to reflect the shade, making it even easier to distinguish!

I really like the minimal look of the lippies!

The applicator has a doe-foot brush that manages to get ample product out without having to dunk back again. It has a slight curve to fit the lips better too!

These all smell different and have a shiny, almost watery texture. They're supposed to leave a stain on your lips as well!

There are six shades in total, namely:

01 Shy Peach
02 Delicate Orange
03 Rosy Strawberry
04 Cynical Cherry
05 Secretive Grapefruit
06 Mature Cherry

Here are my lip swatches + thoughts on each shade!
01 Shy Peach

A delicate coral pink, this colour looks very natural on the lips. When applied like a gradient/sheerly, it gives my lips a warm pop of pink.

Since my lip line is quite dark, it still shows through as the tint isn't that opaque. Lilybyred says this is Hyunbin's fave colour, but I think it's my least fave haha. I think it's because it's a bit lighter than what I would usually wear. It looks good and I would wear it, just that it isn't my first choice.

02 Delicate Orange

A cool tone orange, this shade is like a light orange version of the previous shade. It still shows my lip line, but I love how bright and lively it makes my lips look. Kinda like I just ate tteokbeokki/dakgalbi hahaha.

I would recommend this to those who like orange lips, but for those who have a more tan skin tone/darker lip line like me, I would skip this and go for shade 05 instead.

03 Rosy Strawberry

Described as a rosy pinky strawberry shade, this is a more orange pink compared to shade 01. I prefer this pink over shade 01, and I love love love the yummy strawberry scent!

The colour is perfect for everyday use/natural looks!

04 Cynical Cherry

Described as a pink coral colour, I honestly could not see a difference between this and 03, just that this is slightly more opaque/thicker.

If you want the option of sheer/opaque lips, I would choose this over 03.

05 Secretive Grapefruit

The yummiest smelling out of all 6! This shade is described as a mix between orange and red like a grapefruit. At first swatch it looks a bit too neon but on the lips, it looks amazing!

They really make the lips look like candy!

06 Mature Cherry

Last but not least, my fave shade! This colour is described as an MLBB brown red with just a slight hint of orange. It is quite opaque/thick and is gives the lips a very sophisticated look.

In my opinion it is the chicest out of all shades!

In terms of opacity, I would say 01-03 are quite sheer while 04-06 have a creamier, more opaque texture that is more opaque. You can sheer 04-06 out as well, so I feel like those 3 shades have more versatility. All 6 shades' scents are different and correspond to their shade name fruit's scent. They all smell yummy, especially the grapefruit and strawberry ones!

The shine in these are great, and they do make your lips juicy. My pics don't really translate it that well, but they did shine very nice in real life. They'll come off after eating, but they do stain your lips nicely so it's not that bad. I would still bring it out to touch up!

Would I recommend these to you guys? 100% yes! The shades are pretty cute, and though I thought some shades looked too neon right out of the tube, all shades are pretty wearable/very natural. I highly recommend 06 (my fave), 03 and 04!

And that's it for this blog post! I also reviewed the LILYBYRED X ESTHER BUNNY Mood Liar Velvet Tints, so if you're interested to read all about those, click here!
