Hi guys, in this post I'll be sharing about my visit to Taman Tirta Gangga Royal Water Garden in Bali, Indonesia!

Tirta Gangga is a former royal palace in eastern Bali named after the sacred river Ganges in Hinduism. It is noted for the Karangasem royal water palace, bathing pools, a Patirthan temple, its cultural and religious significance.
Located in the east of Bali, it takes around 2 hours to get to Tirtagangga by car from the main Ubud area. We quickly dropped by Tirta Empul temple before setting off on our 2-hour journey.

If you plan on visiting Tirtagangga, I recommend renting a car like we did instead of depending on a taxi/Grab. This way your journey will be smoother, plus, you won't have that much trouble getting a ride to your destination. You can also rent a motorcycle if you please!
We got there a little bit after mid-day and decided to have lunch at the Tirta Gangga Bar & restaurant:

The food was quite nice, and the prices were not bad as well.

After having our lunch, we proceeded to the temple. Near the gate there are stores where you can buy snacks, as well as a mini petting area where you can see bats and a huge snake!

They take donations of any amount if you want to take pictures with the animals.

The ticket for the temple itself costs IDR40,000, and you'll be passed a physical ticket for you to get in.

On one hand, since Tirtagangga was so far from Ubud I expected there to be fewer people. On the other, since it was peak time I expected there to be a lot. I would say that the crowd was okay. Quite a few people there but still workable for IG pics hahaha.

The main attraction here in Tirtagangga is the bathing pool with the stepping stones:

As you can see, almost everyone is trying to take that Instagrammable shot!

The pools of water contain lots of koi fish, and some of them were massive! We later learned that some of them were around 40 years old.

There's fish food sold outside the temple, and it's a tip from the locals for anyone who wants to take pictures with the fish.

You basically spread the food around you so the fishes come, and you take your shot!

It takes a bit of time and patience to get them all around you, but with a little effort and patience, you'll get there!

You can take pics wherever you want to, but the big stepping stone where I was sitting is the best in my opinion since it has the best background.

A little further in you have a fountain + a stream with more koi fish:

It also makes for a nice photo spot!

Since we were trying to catch the sunset at Mt Agung & Pura Lempuyang (which was an hour away), we decided to take our leave. On our way out we say this huge pool as well with more koi + this pretty bridge
