Heimish Artless Glow Base Review

January 25, 2019

Hi guys, today I'll be sharing about my current fave primer of the moment: Hemish's Artless Glow Base!

Before discovering glowy primers and strobe creams, I used to stick to matte primers and pore filling primers since I have very oily skin. Although I do have oily skin and using matte primers help control some shine, I felt that it didn't really help make my base apply "seamlessly" or "naturally" as I'd like it to.

I was watching one of Pony's videos where she used a strobe cream for a healthy looking base, and the finish looked so pretty!

Especially with the rise of glass skin, I was intrigued and wanted to try it for myself. I got this primer from Stylekorean a few months back and never really used it. After experimenting with it for the first time, I fell in love! Read on to know why.

WHAT IS IT
This product is a tone up base that brightens your complexion, moisturizes your skin, offers sun care and has herb extracts to protect your skin. (It has SPF50+ PA+++ btw!)

WHERE TO BUY
I got mine from Styleakorean where it currently retails for USD22:

But you can also get this full-sized product as a free gift if your order is above USD100"

PACKAGING
You get 40ml of product and it comes packaged in a pink box:

The product itself is encased in a tube for easy dispersion, and I personally really like this because I get to squeeze out and use every last drop of this product.

INGREDIENTS
The ingredient list is pretty clean, comprising only mostly green and some yellow-rated ingredients. Butylene Glycol (one of the most common hydrating ingredients in K-beauty products) is the 2nd ingredient in this primer, and I would say that this primer is actually very moisturizing (more on that later).

Aside from that, it also contains Niacinamide and Adenoside, 2 ingredients that are great at brightening and anti-aging!

FRAGRANCE & TEXTURE
The product looks like a pinkish, pearly cream. On my skin, it looks white-ish, and once spread out it does tone up the skin slightly, spreading the pearl/glitter evenly on the skin.

HOW TO USE
Like any primer, I usually apply this after my moisturizer has absorbed and before my concealer/foundation/base makeup. You can use a synthetic brush to apply it, but I personally like using my hands.

MY REVIEW & VERDICT
As I mentioned, this does tone up the skin, leaving you with a brighter complexion. If you're fair, this might not be a big deal, but if you're tan like me, you might find that it looks like you have a white cast on your skin. Personally, I don't mind this because my base/foundation is going to cover it anyway, so my colour will still be correct. The only way this primer affects your makeup is in the finish and in the application (not the colour).

In terms of application, it really does help my foundation apply seamlessly. It makes my skin super glossy and smooth, making base makeup application seamless. I also found that it helps to make my makeup stay on longer and not crease at all (especially in my smile lines).

In terms of finish, the glittery/pearly effect is DIVINE. I'm so used to being matte that I feel like glossy/dewy skin looks so healthy & realistic in comparison:

Do you see how healthy my skin looks like when it's glossy/dewy? I think it's because skin is naturally dewy anyway, and replicating that glow gives a very fresh and natural look:

At the end of my makeup routine, I still set my face with powder and setting spray to lock everything in, and the combo of these 3 products really helps me achieve a natural looking, glossy makeup. Although I have oily skin, I don't feel like it makes me look extra greasy or extra shiny.

WILL I REPURCHASE
Definitely! I just got another one and I'll be repurchasing it again when I finish it.

And that's it for this review! I really love this primer and really recommend it to you guys, especially if you're looking for one that can help you achieve that glass skin effect.

Thanks for dropping by and see y'all in the next post!
