Hyggee All-In-One Essence Review

June 11, 2018

Hi guys, today I'll be sharing all about Hyggee's All-In-One Essence!

Hyggee has been one of the brands that I've really been dying to try out for the past couple of months. I saw their products popping up everywhere on Instagram and I really liked their lineup plus "All You Need is Less" tagline. I got a bottle of their All-In-One Essence, and after using it for more than a month now, here's my review!

WHAT IS IT
Hyggee is a minimalist Korean skincare brand that believes that less is more. Similar to other minimalist K-beauty brands, they have the basics and a few special products you can add on to that basic routine so that it works better for your skin type/concerns. Hyggee also comes from the Danish word "Hygge", which is the Danish ritual of enjoying life's simple pleasures.

Hyggee has 2 essences in their line, the All-In-One Essence Balance (which is oil based and is designed for people with dry skin) and the All-In-One Essence (a light finish water-based essence designed for oily skin).

This essence has 4 main efficacies:

1. Powerful Moisturizing
Contains moisturizing ingredients such as birch sap, triple hyaluronic acid complex to keep the skin hydrated for a long time. The triple HA really intrigued me because I love HA, and my fave HA lotion/essence from Hada Labo contains triple HA as well.

2. Brightening & Wrinkle Care

3. Exfoliating Care
Contains 4 different kinds of ferment to help exfoliate the skin.

4. Nourishing & Moisturizing

WHERE TO BUY
This product is available on Stylekorean.com (one of Hyggee's official distributors) for USD37 (~RM147). It comes with 110ml so I guess it's not too bad, but for the price point, I'm expecting it to be good (because anything above RM100 for me that doesn't do well...is just a dud hahaha). Is this product worth it? Keep on reading to find out!

PACKAGING
I like the sleek and simple packaging that Hyggee has for all of it's products! This essence comes with a box and a nice 110ml bottle. It doesn't feel cheap at all and almost feels borderline luxurious hahaha. Kinda has a "white" Laneige feel it.

The bottle is sleek, sturdy & comes with a cap for hygiene purposes. It's a pump type and after using it for a month, I haven't had any problems getting the right amount of product that I want out (no problems with over squirting or anything).

INGREDIENTS
All of the ingredients in this product have an EWG rating of 3 or lower (which means they are unlikely to irritate the skin) except for Phenoxyethanol (rating 4) which is used a Fragrance and/or preservative.

Aside from powerfully moisturizing ingredients like birch sap & triple HA, this product also has Goat's Milk extract, a highly nutritious ingredient that contains Vitamin C. It also contains brightening & wrinkle care ingredients (hydrolyzed collagen & Sepicalm VG) as well as different ferments (Bifida, etc.) that help exfoliate the skin and making it smooth again. TEXTURE & FRAGRANCE
The product is white in colour and actually has a bit of viscosity to it. It's not watery like most essences, but it's not quite as thick as an emulsion. I would say it's a gel-type essence that arsorbs pretty well on the skin but leaves a slight sheen. I usually use this both morning & night because I find that I like the slight cool feeling my skin gets when I apply it. However, I do use less in the morning to cut down on the shine. It smells nice and the scent isn't strong.

HOW TO USE
As with the rules of K-beauty layering, usually you're supposed to use a thin essence after toner & before your serums to kind of boost the products that are going to be applied on to you skin. At first I was afraid that this would be too thick and will cause my thin serums to not be able to penetrate well into my skin. After using it however, I find that although it's moisturizing, it is indeed very light and my serums still work and absorb as they usually do (aka they do not sit on top of my skin). TL:DR, I use it after toner and before serums.

MY REVIEW & VERDICT
The essence I was using before I switched to this one was the Purito Fermented Complex 94 Boosting Essence, so Hyggee had some big shoes to fill in since I really loved that essence. One main difference between both of them is, of course, the texture, but another I think is the hydration level. Where Purito's essence moisturized and helped to make my skin feel supple and "chewy", this one moisturized and helped make my skin feel quenched and fully moisturized. Although it is thin enough for serums to still penetrate and is comfortable, after using this essence I often find myself usually not wanting to layer on any more serums because it already feels enough. Cheesy as it may seem because of their slogan, but I really do feel like this product did help to do it all in one.

Here are my thoughts on the efficacies it promised:

1. Powerful Moisturizing & Nourishing
A little really goes a long way with this product. You don't need a lot to cover your entire face, and a thin layer is already enough for you to feel moisturized and for you skin to feel sated. It's not as thin and lightweight as Hada Labo's HA lotions, but it's definitely more cooling + feels as moisturizing (if not more). I also love that it's not heavy for my oily skin at all and did not break me out.

2. Brightening, Exfoliating & Wrinkle Care
I did not really see any dramatic brightening or lightening in my skin, but my skin does look clear. Not scar free, but more of a glowing/healthy kind of look. It looks dewy/healthy and after a few weeks of using it, I found that it helps make me look more "alive" and revitalized (when in the inside I'm actually dead and dying lol). I do not use this as a toner + do not use it to exfoliate, but I think the ferments like the Bifida + the Niacinamide in the product really helps to boost skin turnover + help make the skin tone more even.

I think the plumpness and moisturized feeling after applying it helps with the wrinkle part. I don't have any deep wrinkles yet, but I do put this around my mouth/smile lines just as a precaution and so far so good.

WILL I REPURCHASE?
Definitely! I would really like to try Hyggee's other stuff as well, so since I predict this product will take some time to finish, I think I'll get some of their other stuff as well. I will, however, get another bottle of this when I finish it! I recommend it for someone who wants an all-in-one product that helps to moisturize the skin + make it look even. I think it's a great investment!

And that's it for this post! I hope you guys found this post interesting and helpful. I did a post the other day listing down some of the interesting minimalist K-beauty brands that have caught my eye, and you can read all about that by clicking here! 😉

As always thank you for reading and I'll see you guys in the next post!
