PURITO Galacto Niacin 97 Power Essence Review

March 22, 2018

Hi guys, welcome back to my blog! In this post I'll be sharing about PURITO's Galacto Niacin 97 Power Essence.

This post is actually a part of a series of reviews, and if you'd like to read all of my Purito reviews, click here!

Purito stands for Purify +  (tu/soil), and it means to find the pure and safe wonders of nature found in our soil. They understand that Korean cosmetics are all the rage, but instead of relying on hype, they want to focus on ingredients that will benefit the skin. They focus on natural ingredients as well as having only EWG Green Level ingredients in their products.

So in December last year, a website called eopenmarket.com got in touch with me and asked if I would be interested in giving an honest review of this product. Just a disclaimer, I was not paid to give a good review, and although the products were given to me via PR, my thoughts on them will still be my honest ones as usual.

Without further ado, let's get on with the review!

WHAT IS IT?
This product is a skin brightening essence that contains 92% Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate (a kind of natural yeast, similar to SKII's Pitera) + 5% niacinamide (a popular skin briightening ingredient), higher than other products which usually only contain 2%. It promises to penetrate depe into the skin to moisturize it with it's water-type formulation.

At first I was confused because Purito's Complex 94 essence came in such a big bottle, why was this one so small? I did some research and found that they can only make small quantities of this product, and the product itself cannot be stored for a long time. Its recommended to use this product as soon as you open it + to keep it in your fridge.

The main efficacies that this product promises are:

  1. Great at anti-ageing
  2. Help skin recover
  3. Intensive sebum control
  4. Whitening & brightening

WHERE TO BUY?
A 60ml bottle costs KRW24,000 or USD22.95, but on eopenmarket.com it retails for only $15.38/RM60. For the amount of product that you get, I think the price is mid-range, and its similar to some serum prices out there. Is it worth it though? Keep on reading!

PACKAGING
I was also quite confused as to why instead of a bottle, Purito made a pump. I later realized that since you need to finish this product asap, its easier and faster to get it out via pump instead of a bottle where you usually get essences out per drop. I don't mind, it, but my advice to you guys would be to be careful with the pump because sometimes it sprays a lil' too hard.

INGREDIENTS
So as I mentioned, all of the ingredients in this product have an EWG green level rating:

The main ingredients of this product is Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate & Niacinamide. We all know the story that SKII uses when they introduce Pitera: an old rice wine maker's face was super wrinkly, but his hands were super young because of the yeast. Galactomyces is a type of natural yeast that is used when brewing alcohol. It's super popuar in essences and the fact that this essence contains 92% is kinda mind boggling. Bloggers love Galactomyces, and that was actually one of the reasons why I was excited to try this product out.

Niacinamide is an ingredient that keeps on popping up in a lot of K-beauty products, and that's because it's a very powerful brightening ingredient. It's one of my faves because it's inside some of my fave products like Klairs' Vitamin E mask, and it really helps to fade acnes scars really fast + brighten the skin.

Aside from those two, this product also contains skin healing ingrediets (Attantoin) & more anti-ageing ingredients (Adenosine).

TEXTURE + HOW TO USE
I made a video showing how I use these Purito products for my morning and night skincare routine, and you can watch it here:

There are several ways to use this product:

  1. As an essence after toner (1-2 pumps)
  2. Immediately after cleansing as toner
  3. At the end of your routine (1-2 pumps)

I apply a lot of serums at night, so I usually use this as an essnence (method 1) if I'm using more products after it. However, I feel like its similar to The Face Shop's Therapy First Serum where you can literally use it and you're good. I've used this by itself after cleansing my face and I still felt like my face was pretty nice in the morning.

The texture is watery, but the finish is slightly thicker than what I had originally expected. Especially if you pat in 2 pumps, you'll definitely be left with a slightly glowing chok-chok face. I don't mind it, but I usually reserve this product to be used at night, just cause I like to have my skin feeling light and refreshed in the morning.

MY REVIEW + VERDICT
Whoever thought of this combo is a genius. I don't have that much wrinkles, but this product really plumps the skin and brightens it. I don't use it on a daily basis, but when I do I use a lot (use it as toner + pat in 2 pumps). I've since used this as a part of my "brightening routine" at night twice a week, and I have to say I love the results!
  1. Whitening & brightening
With the correct products, you can immediately see results. This essence is friggin powerful and I really recommend it if you have any dark spots of acne scars like me that you want to fade.
  2. Great at anti-aging
Really moisturizing + plumping, I think people with older skin would prefer the feeling of this essence. It doesn't feel super thick, but you can definitely feel that you have ample moisturization on your face.
  3. Help skin recover
For this I can only speak on the speed of scar recovery, and I think that it definitely speeds up skin turnover + helps scars fade faster.
  4. Intensive sebum control
I think this is the only down side of this product. I didn't really see any noticeable differrence in the amount of sebum my skin produces. I'm not sure if it's because of the weather or not, but yeah, I don't think it has very good/noticeable sebum controlling properties.

WILL I REPURCHASE?
Although I like this essence, I think for the price & amount you get it's not that enticing for me to repurchase it. I do think its a great product and that you should get a bottle to try out at least once, but for  my personal experience, I think there are products that can do similar things that cost less or have more product. If I suddenly found RM60 on the floor then yes, I would buy it again, but on a normal day? Probs not.

And that was it for this review! As I mentioned, I reviewed a lot of Purito products recently, and you can check the others out by clicking here. Remember to like the video I made as well & subscribe to my channel for more demos & skincare routine videos!
