Belif in Your Skin! • Belif Unboxing & Review

January 10, 2018

Hi guys, welcome to my first post of 2018! (I actually mistyped that as 2017 at first, can you believe 2017 is finally over?). Today I'll be sharing an unboxing and review of some products that I received from Belif.

So if you didn't already know, Belif is a Korean skincare brand that has quite an interesting backstory! They use the knowledge passed down from a British herbalist since 1860 to create the cosmetic line that they have today.

They combine natural herbs and a traditional approach to treating the body with their super safe and innovative extraction methods.

Belif has 5 main promises to its users:

1. True Ingredients
Only carefully selected ingredients are used. They even use rare herbs!

2. True Formula
They use something called the Napier's traditional herb processing method which has been around for more than 150 years.

3. True Safety
Belif uses NO synthetic preservatives, dyes, fragrances, mineral oil or animal origin ingredients! So organic!

4. True Benefit
They avoid excessive ads and packaging, and I actually noticed this as soon as I saw their products. They do this because they want to deliver only honest and true efficacy.

5. True Timelessness
They want everyone to understand how we can improve skin with products containing natural and timeless ingredients.

Belif was kind enough to send a special Christmas present last month, and the products I received came in this uber cute flamingo box:

Inside the box were 4 full sized products, namely:

1. Belif Cleansing Oil Fresh
2. Belif Oil Control Moisturizer Fresh
3. Belif Aqua Gel Oil
4. Belif Tinted Moisturizer Powdery B.B (shade)

All of the products included were for people with oily skin types, which is great news for someone whose gets so greasy like me! Just a disclaimer, although these products were sent over to me, my review will still contain my 100% honest thoughts and feedback as always 😉

Without further ado, let's get on with the post 💖

╔ Cleansing Oil Fresh
Cleansing Oil Fresh
 Cleansing Oil Fresh
RM140

This product is a cleansing oil that is suitable for oily to combination skin types. If you have oily skin like me, don't be too afraid of oil! Having oily skin means your face lacks moisture, and it certainly doesn't mean that you can't use oil products in fear of it making your face even oilier. I actually love oil makeup removers because I feel like they remove makeup the best (plus my face always feels super soft and smooth after using an oil cleanser haha).

The packaging (like with all Belif products) are simple and minimalist. This actually came with a top and a nozzle separately.

It promises to remove make-up and eliminate blackheads, leaving the skin with a light finished feeling.  It contains soapberry and sweet flag which prevents future breakouts and does not have any mineral oil, synthetic fragrance, synthetic dye, synthetic preservatives or animal-origin ingredients.

Here's a full list of ingredients from CosDNA:

This cleansing oil can either be used as a cleanser or as a makeup remover, but I mainly use it as a makeup remover. How I use this is I pump one pump into my hands and I gently massage it into my makeup (without water). I then rinse it away with water.

With makeup, of course my face was dry, so I decided to test the moisturizing properties of this oil bare faced. My bare face had a moisture level of 55%, and after using the oil it had a moisture level of 68%.

It wasn't overly moisturizing but at least it didn't strip my face of any moisture. Since I usually follow cleansing with my whole routine, I didn't mind this at all.

Overall I think this cleansing oil is AMAZING! It managed to remove my makeup nicely + soften my skin, as well as to slightly moisturize it. I can't stress how soft it made my skin felt! It couldn't stop touching my face the first time I used it that my brother actually started laughing at me hahaha. I didn't break out or anything and it didn't irritate me as well.

╔ Oil Control rizer Fresh
Oil Control Moisturizer Fresh
 Oil Control rizer Fresh
RM160

This product is an oil-free moisturizer designed especially for people with oily skin (yay for me!). It promises to leave a light finish without excess shine while keeping the skin moisturized. Rosehip extracts rich in vitamins and tannins along with oil controlling powder in the moisturizer tightens enlarged pores and improves resilience, leaving the skin clean and smooth.

Like the oil, it has no mineral oil, synthetic fragrance, synthetic dyes, synthetic preservatives or animal-origin ingredients. The ingredient list from CosDNA is pretty clean too! Almost all the ingredients are in the green safety zone too!

I apply this product after my toner/essence. It's kinda like a light moisturizer which I would recommend to be used in the day/when you don't feel like wearing a heavy cream. It smells pleasant and has a slightly milky/jelly feel to it.

I tried both this product and the Aqua gel oil on two sides on my face to compare the moisture levels. Although this product only promises light hydration, it still managed to bring my moisture level up from 68% to 90%!

Overall I think this product is simple, direct and no mumbo jumbo. It says it can hydrate comfortably and it does just that! I also did not get any breakouts + irritation. One thing I'd like to add too is on top of being light and great for mornings, it also doesn't look too sticky/shiny. It looks pretty "hydrated" and doesn't look tacky compared to a normal cream. It also wasn't sticky, and I didn't look extra greasy throughout the day.

╔ Aqua Gel Oil ╗
Aqua Gel Oil
 Aqua Gel Oil ╝
RM205

This product is also a moisturizer, but on Belif's official website it's listed under "Special". Its a moisture concentrated refreshing gel that claims to turn into a light moisture oil, delivering soft and moist hydration. It's also supposed to give even deeper hydration compared to the OCMF.

It contains oil extracts from Passiflora seed, which according to Paula's Choice contains several antioxidant compounds that should benefit the skin. Belif also claims that its full of moisture and oil, allowing for soft and moist skin without greasiness.

Like the 2 products above, it has no addition of mineral oils, synthetic fragrances, synthetic dyes, synthetic preservatives & animal origin ingredients. However, I saw that some of the ingredients listed on CosDNA had a red safety rating.

However, after searching it up I found that both Citral and Geraniol are organic ingredients/oils that are derived from flowers. As I mentioned in my CosDNA guide, products with red-tagged ingredients don't necessarily mean they're bad (and that CosDNA acts more as a reference than a shopping guide)

To use this, I pump 2-3 small pumps into the back of my hand and gently apply it onto my face in an upward motion. Belif also says that this product is great for controlling oil and can be used before your makeup.

Aaaaaaand here are my moisture results! It managed to take my skin from 68% to 98%!

It really did feel plumping and the scent especially made me fall in love with it. It's not too heavy and it's not super light, just right. I feel like its also great for morning use, but you can definitely layer it on at night along with serums as well.

When I used it in the morning, I did feel like it was light, moisturized and comfortable. However, my skin still did look dewy like normal. Not any different from the OCMF, but rather no visible difference. If you're looking for a comfortable moisturizer I would recommend this, but if you're looking for a super oil controlling one then this isn't it.

That said, it didn't break me out (thank goodness) and it didn't irritate me too. Paired with the nice scent, I'd give this a solid 4.5 👍

╔ Tinted MoistPowdery B.B ╗
Tinted Moisturizer Powdery B.B
 Tinted MoistPowdery B.B
RM99

This product is a powdery B.B. cream that creates a clear, translucent, and natural skin tone, making it subtle and matte without the appearance of oiliness. It also contains SPF43 PA+++ and protects the skin from the sun. It also contains Canna from the Caribbean which has a natural ability to control excess sebum, the cream helps leave the skin smooth and refreshed all day long.

Sadly, among all the products that Belif sent over, this would have to be my least fave. It't not that it's bad, it's just too light for me. Belif's BB creams actually come in 3 variations: Basic, Powdery and Waterdrop.

The one I got (Powdery) would be perfect for me because it helps mattify and control sebum, but unfortunately the product only comes in one shade which is too light for me. I can use it as a highlighter, but it's just not the same.

It also has no addition of mineral oil, synthetic fragrance, synthetic dyes, synthetic preservatives and animal-origin ingredients. To use, its advised to dispense a small amount, gently apply to the skin and then lightly pat for absorption.

I can't really say anything about it because it's too light for me. I'll probably give it to my sister or mum instead!

And that was it for my review of these Belif products that I got for Christmas! Thank you again Belif and The Butterfly Project for sending the products over. Above I gave the Aqua Gel Oil a rating of 4.5/5, it ironically became my most used product out of the bunch hahaha. Should I change the rating into 5? 🤔 Hmmmm....only time will tell! I'll have to use it longer and see if I really do feel like it deserves a 5 haha.

If you're interested in checking out the products, you can find Belif in the following malls:

KLANG VALLEY
Sunway Pyramid
Midvalley Megamall
