Pyunkang Yul ATO Lotion Review

December 10, 2017

Hi guys, welcome back to my blog! For today's post I'll be reviewing Pyunkang Yul's ATO Lotion!

This post is actually part of a double update! I also reviewed Pyunkang Yul's Essence Toner, so if you're interested in reading that too, click here.

Pyunkang Yul (I'll abbreviate it to PKY) has a 40-year heritage and their motto is "Makeup was meant to be brewed, not bought". I'm not really sure what that means because you have to buy their products hahaha. Their 3 main principles are: safe, natural and customized.

While most cosmetics have 30-60 ingredients, the average number of ingredients that PKY products have is only 12. Also, for all you CosDNA users out there, most of the baseline products included in PKY products have an EWG grade of 3 or lower, with 55% of all ingredients used having an EWG grade of 0.

Click here to know more about EWG grades and CosDNA!

Every ingredients included in their products are carefully selected and have removed fragrances and other ingredients that do not have a major function. They aim to relax and soothe fatigued skin with safe ingredients.

PKY understands that everyone has different skin types and even offer an online test to find out which products fit you as well as a 1 on 1 consultation on their website.

They currently have 3 different lines: the Basic Line (basic products that can raise or lower skin temperature), the ATO line (for sensitive skin) and the A Therapy Line (for soothing and relaxing the skin and body).

I got this from Stylekorean for review but as always, this post will contain my 100% honest thoughts and options 💕

This product is a moisturizer for people with sensitive & troubled skin. It promises to help make your skin strong from the inside and promises to be an excellent dryness reliever. It has mild ingredients that will soothe irritation and is even so mild that it can be used on children or other parts of the body.

I'm kinda a bit confused because when I selected it on StyleKorean, I got the 110ml tube $9.16 (~MYR37.38)

Screenshot from my cart

When I checked back, it's no longer available. I checked PKY's website and only found the 290ml bottle version. It's available on StyleKorean for $26.17 (~MYR106.90),

I guess I was lucky and got a small trial version hahaha.

The 110ml version that I got comes in a tube and came sealed when I got it.

This products contains lonicer aflower extract which is known to soothe the skin and to help make it smooth. It's also know to be anti-inflammatory so it should work great for when you have irritated skin or breakouts.

Although the number of ingredients is higher than the usual 12 (this has 15), all of them have a EWG grade of low:

This product has no fragrance and has a watery gel kind of texture:

You can kinda feel it slip and slide before you rub it into your face. Its reminds me of TFS' Dr. Belmeur Clarifying Moisturizer but it's slightly more watery. When you rub it in, you kinda get a while "lotion" kind of texture, but when you rub it in some more it will disappear. I though it was just the amount that I applied but no matter how little I used the while "lotion" texture still appeared.

PKY suggest to use this either as a moisturizer at the end of your routine or on dry parts of your body.

I feel like this product is only so-so. It did everything it claimed to do: soothe irriated skin, moisturize, calm...but I just don't feel impressed with it. It's a great choice for people with acne-prone skin like me but for almost the same price as The Face Shop's Clarifying Moisturizer, I would rather get the latter.

Hmmm...probably not. I like it but it didn't really wow me.

And that was it for my review of Pyunkang Yul's ATO Lotion! If you guys are interested in reading my review on PKY's Essence Toner, click here!

I hope you guys found it interesting and informative. As always, thanks for reading and see y'all in the next post!
