Half Moon Eyes Milky Jelly Moisture Cream Review

August 26, 2017

Hey y'all! Welcome back to my blog 💕 Today I'll be sharing5 my review of my current office moisturizer: Half Moon Eyes' Milky Jelly Moisture Cream!

You might be asking "Why office moisturizer?". Well, its because I'm high key blessed to be working in a beauty company that allows us to do facials and skincare while we do our work. I have a separate skincare table at home and at work, and ever since I got this product I've left it on my desk and only used it exclusively at work hahaha.

WHAT IS IT?

This product is a moisturizer with a cream texture that promises to provide smooth and richly moisturized skin.

All skin types can use it but its recommended for people with dry and sensitive skin who need moisturizing and soothing. I didn't know this when I started using this product but this product actually officially states that it can be used as a base before using foundation (I'll talk more about this later). It also claims to be able to last a whole year!

WHERE TO BUY?

I got this from Althea and its available for RM67. Now for 100g I would say that's slightly okay. Still not too expensive and still not super drugstore cheap. (It did promise to be usable for a year though~)

PACKAGING

When you first get the product, it'll come in a cardboard packaging (which has a super unique shape) and the 100g of cream comes in a tube (which is AWESOME because who want's to dig into a tub of moisturizer anyway?)

INGREDIENTS

This product comes with a plethora of hydrating ingredients. It actually has two patented ingredients inside to provide moisture and to strengthen the skin barrier.

The first patent is called Natural Protector and it includes 7 natural ingredients (Willow, Soybean ferment, Cinnamon, Baicalensis Root, Obtusa Leaf, Ocleracea, Oregano) that soothe and moisturize the skin.

The second patent is the Oriental Beauty Fruits Newplex which includes Pomegranate, Ginko Nut, Mulberry and Fig.

Knowing that Half Moon Eyes actually patented their ingredients goes to show that they actually did their R&D and didn't just buy some OEM cream off of a factory that was repackaged 👌

FRAGRANCE + TEXTURE

The texture to me is very special because it's thicker than a gel but isn't super thick like your usual cream. It's more of a light cream that easily absorbs into the skin.

It has a subtle smell (kinda fruity) that I don't mind.

HOW TO USE?

Half Moon Eyes recommends using their products in this order:

But you can totally use it as the last step of your day/night routine. If you're interested, I also reviewed their Pinky Fruity (click here) and the Milky Jelly Toning Essence (click here)!

I really like the hydrating and skin smoothening effects of this, so much that I also use this as a primer before applying my concealer + foundation.

REVIEW + VERDICT

Before I say anything else, I just wanna shout out: I LOVE THIS. Eros approved! There are two reasons why I love this:

1. Smooth Skin
Although it feels slightly heavy (it has a barely there kinda weight), it really does hydrate and smoothen out the skin. It feels really pore-filling and deep-hydrating (if that makes sense). I actually did a first impressions video with Sydney on the entire Half Moon Eyes Line:

I made the mistake of putting on too much of the product! It spreads well and really hydrates, so you don't really need to apply more than a pea sized amount. I've been using this almost everyday for about 2 months now and I still have a lot of product to go. I can't really say if it will last one whole year because I have a lot of moisturizers that I switch around and play with, but for RM67 and how little you need to apply, I can definitely say that it'll last for more than 6-8 months.

2. Smooth Makeup Base
If you're applying makeup afterward, however, I recommend you apply slightly more, because the smoothness of the skin after using this product is just surreal. I actually gave up on my Innisfree No Sebum primer and my Dr. Jart Pore Medic Poreminish primer. I feel like after applying the cream, my pores are filled enough and my skin's texture feels like butter!

Since the cream gives a dewy "chok chok" finish, it isn't mattifying like my anti-sebum primers. However, I find that I can easily control my matteness by setting my face nicely with powder and setting spray. I'm an extremely person anyway, so I still end up getting oily even with the anti-sebum primers. I'd rather have a smooth application with hydrated skin than have that one extra hour of (semi) matteness that anti-sebum primers give me.

WILL I REPURCHASE?

Definitely! I mean, it kills two stones with one: moisturizing and priming! I would definitely recommend this to those looking for a 2-in-1 product or someone with extremely dry skin.

And that's it for this review! As I mentioned, I also reviewed the Pink Fruity, so click here to check it out if you're interested!

As always, thanks for reading and I'll see y'all in my next post!

  2. Nice! The content is really informative. The moisturizer seems really good. I too had very dry skin but Lifecell skin cream helped me a lot.
