It's Skin YE Effector Serum Review

October 11, 2016

Hi guys, today I'll be posting my review of It's Skin's YE Effector Serum!

As you guys know, I'm a big fan of serums and I particularly loved It's Skin's VC Effector Serum. I didn't feel the same way about the WH serum though.

I was approached by Hermo.my a few months back to collaborate on their Excuse my Beauty series (click here to see that) and I thought I'd finally post my review for this particular product. Although I didn't purchase this product, this review contains my 100% honest opinions!

Without further ado, on with the review!

WHAT IS IT

This serum is part of It;s Skin's Power 10 series which was serums that cater to different concerns.

The best selling one is the VC (Vitamin C) effector (read here to read my review of that).

The YE one ranks third and it promises to enhance skin vitality and rhythm recovery. By rhythm recovery I think it means skin turnover.

 Here's the description from Hermo:

Potent serum deeply penetrates skin's layers to deliver GF-Biopolymer at the cellular level to relieve the symptoms of dryness and sensitivity. Used on cleansed and toned skin, serum softens and smoothens rough patches, effectively prepping skin for maximum absorption of moisturizers from succeeding treatments and keeping it protected from external aggressors with a long-lasting moisture shield.

So it has the following claims:
1. Strengthen the skin
2. Normalize skin turnover
3.Softens skin
4. Moisturizes

WHERE TO BUY?

This product retails on Hermo.my for RM28.

PACKAGING

This serum comes in a 30ml brown glass dropper bottle like other serums and has a plastic cap.

I don't know if its just my dropper but the tip is slightly slanted. Not that it matters, I mean I can still get my product out.

INGREDIENTS

Yeast is a powerful active ingredient and when applied topically, it’s super hydrating, anti-aging, collagen-producing, and brightening. One of the most popular products that uses yeast is actually SK-II! Their super popular essence has Pitera, derived from yeast fermentation.

TEXTURE & FRAGRANCE

The serum is slightly thick and is slightly white in colour.

Compared to the other It's Skin serums, here's how runny it is:

HOW TO USE

Wash - Toner - Essence - Serum - Moisturizer

I usually use my serums after lotion/essence and before moisturizer. If you're using more than one serum I suggest you layer them by thickness.

I usually apply one drop each to my forehead, cheeks, nose and chin and rub them into my skin in a circular motion. Let the serum absorb into your skin for about 2 minutes before applying your next product.

MY REVIEW

I absolutely love this serum! Compared to the VC serum, I can use this in the day. I used it for a whole month during my day and night routine and I have to say my skin was so bomb!

My skin felt hydrated, smooth and just overall good. You know those days when you wake up, look into the mirror and just go "ooh I look on fleek today", that's what using this serum feels like.

As for it's claims:

1. Strengthen the skin
Well I don't know strong it what sense but I didn't have any breakouts while using this.

2. Normalize skin turnover
Skin turnover is the process where our skin gets rid of old skin and the new skin comes out. If you want to get rid of acne scars and all that, skin turnover should be one of your focus points.

I did see a bit a bit of improvement with my overall skin texture. As I mentioned, it has that"wow my skin looks great today" effect.

3.Softens skin
Yes yes yes!

4. Moisturizes
In terms of moisturizing I think its okay, nothing too amazing.

MY VERDICT

After my lackluster experience with the WH serum, I was so pleased with the results from this one! It definitely delivers visible and feel-able results.

WILL I REPURCHASE

Yes! I love this serum and I'd definitely repurchase and recommend it.

And that'sit for this review. I hope  you guys found it helpful and useful.

As always, thanks for reading and see you in the next post!

    1. Hi Jani, thanks for commenting! It did help my overall complexion and made it clear so I guess you can say it made my face look "brighter", but in terms of brightening/whitening your tone/shade I don't think this serum makes a super big change. Hope I helped! :)

  2. Hello Eros,

Such a regret that I found your wonderful blog so late. You wrote many great reviews.
In reference of your lackluster experience with WH effector, I think it is probably because you should never mix acid with retinoid. Vitamin C is acid, and Arbutin is retinoid. They cancel each other out. If you want to use both, use interchangeably every other day. Here is a little bit of reference.

    1. Hi Josie, thanks for commenting!

It did actually cross my mind that it might be because of the combo, but I didn't get to search it up. Thanks so much for the info! I'll definitely be reading more on acids and retinoids as well as checking out that link you gave me.

Hope to see a comment from you again soon! :D
