Laneige Water Bank Eye Gel Review

August 22, 2016

Hello everyone! Today I'll be reviewing Laneige's Water Bank Eye Gel!

This product was sent to me a while back by Hermo.my as part of the Excuse My Beauty collaboration a few months ago. (Click here to read my post and here to read the feature write up on Hermo!)

Anyways, I haven't officially posted my review of this product up yet, so I thought today I'd finally share with you guys my thoughts and impressions about this product!

Although this product was given to me, my opinions are 100% honest and my own. I only have 2 eyes and if something goes wrong I'm going to tell you guys about it haha (not that anything went wrong, but ya know).

On with the review!

WHAT IS IT

This product is part of Laneige's Water Bank Line and this line caters mostly to hydrating the skin.

The Water Bank Eye Gel promises to replenish moisture and reduce under eye puffiness. It also claims to be able to soothe tired eyes.

WHERE TO BUY?

This product retails for RM129 on Hermo.my and costs about the same in Laneige counters/shops. The product comes in a 25ml glass tub. I know 25ml sounds so little, but trust me, this product was worth every cent. Read on to know why!

PACKAGING

Like the moisturizers in this range, this eye gel comes packaged in a blue glass tub and comes with a plastic scoop for hygienic scooping.

I really like the packaging, although its quite troublesome when I travel (because I'm scared I'll drop it)

It comes with a pamphlet with more information about the product inside.

INGREDIENTS

Hydro Ion Mineral Water
Infused with 6 ionized moisturizing minerals that play a role in regulating skin moisture, it swiftly penetrates the skin to activate natural moisturizing genes in the skin.
Quinoa extracts
Quinoa has been a food source for mankind for the past seven thousand years. It is also known to protect the skin from dryness and damage.
Natural olive oil
Micro-sized botanical oil particles absorb quickly into the skin to reinforce the lipid barrier in the epidermis to help retain moisture and smoothen the skin texture.
Tillandsia extract
Rich in betaine, a natural moisturizing factor (NMF) that plays an important role in hyaluronic acid synthesis in the dermis.

TEXTURE & FRAGRANCE

The product has very gel texture that's white in colour. I wouldn't say that it's very light...the texture isn't as light as an aloe gel and it definitely isn't as thick as a cream. It leaves a slightly sticky and shiny finish, but that's not a problem for me because I usually use this product at night.

I don't remember smelling a scent, although if there is it's very subtle.

HOW TO USE

On the instructions, it says to use it after using essence. I encorparate it into my routine as follows:

Cleanser - Toner - Essence - Eye - Serum - Moisturizer

Although this is a gel, the rationale of why I use this product before my moisturizers and serums is that I wanted it to be able to seep into my skin before any other products did. I also didn't want there to be any other products when I dab the gel.

A lot of people on YouTube say that you should use your ring finger because it has the least force, but according to research, you have as much risk poking your eye with your ring finger as your other fingers. Nowadays I just use my ring finger out of habit~

I scoop out a small pea sized amount & dab the product along my orbital bone area until absorbed. I don't really need a lot of product because I'm still young. It spreads well so be careful to scoop out a only a small amount.

PS. I only use this product on nights when my eyes are tired or when I have eyebags, not on a daily basis.

MY REVIEW

I use this as a preventive measure against wrinkles but when I do have eyebags, this works wonders! Every time I use it, the next morning I'll usually be bag-less and feel refreshed. I also use this on nights when I stay up late working on my laptop. For people my age I suggest not using this everyday. This is just because I feel like I don't need to use it on a daily basis (aka when I don't have bags or I'm not tired).

In terms of hydration, this product lives up to its name. It was very hydrating but not to the point where it's heavy or uncomfortable. It's light and almost refreshing.

I've never had a problem with puffy eyes (or I've never noticed), so I can't really tell. My eyes feel refreshed after using this though.

MY VERDICT

This is definitely a great product for me. Although I was initially disappointed that the product came in such a small package, I learned soon that I only needed very little product. This product will definitely last me a good while! The effects are great and the packaging is pretty. What more can I ask for?

Bottom line: did it fulfill all it's claims/promises?
1. Replenish moisture: Check
2. Reduce eye puffiness: Kinda?
3. Soothe tired eyes: Check

WILL I REPURCHASE

More like "will I purchase?" haha. I definitely would! I feel like RM129 is a great investment for eye care. It's been almost half a year since I've received this product and I still have about half of the tub left. It's like paying around RM11 every month times 12 for a year's worth of eye care!

And that's it for this skincare product review! Thanks for reading, I hoped you enjoyed it!
