The Face Shop Clean Face Spot Corrector Review

November 10, 2015

Hello everyone! Finally a review post after so many busy weeks! In this post I shall be reviewing The Face Shop's Clean Face Spot Corrector.

I was window shopping one day when this product caught my eye. A few years back, I tried The Face Shop's Clean Face Acne Solution Foam Cleanser and I remember really loving it, but not trying anything else from the range as I was not very into skincare at the time. Coming across the range in Gurney Plaza, I was reintroduced to the line and out of all the products, the Spot Corrector caught my eye the most. Since spot/scar reduction is my current number 1 goal, I decided to give it a try. Without further ado, on with my review!

*Disclaimer: I was not paid to make this post. This is my 100% my honest review.*

Online, the product description says that it is an essence for clearing up acne blemishes and and allows skin to heal faster. This product contains Tea Tree Oil and Quick Clear Complex, and the current product is a new and improved complex which promises to treat oily or problem skin quickly and effectively.

This product is basically a spot treatment for scars and since I really loved my OXY Anti Pimple Mark Gel (read review here), this product had very big shoes to fill to be able to impress me.

I remember asking in the store in Gurney Plaza how much it was and if I'm not mistaken, the lady told me it was RM30ish. As always, I checked before making my purchase and found that it was selling for RM16.15 (and that the written original retail price was RM25.90)! That was quite far from the price that the saleslady had told me! Of course I bought it on! The best thing about this purchase? It was during Cyber Sale and I got it at a buy one free one deal!

The packaging come in a easy to handle 15ml tube, and I like that the tube is matte (like the other products in this line as well)

New tubes come sealed and each tube has a secure cover.

The hole wasn't big and I found it very easy to squeeze out pea sized drops. In terms of packaging, I prefer this kind of tip over OXY's bigger one.

This product has a mild clinical smell and has a gel texture/ The texture and scent of this spot gel is very similar to Hiruscar, which I have tried and was not very impressed with. Anyway, this product is a bit sticky and does leave a slight sheen to the skin after absorption, but nothing too oily.

Similar to OXY, I apply this before serum for it to be able to seep deeper into my skin and fade scars. Squeeze a small pea sized dot and spread this dot throughout the face. Note that its not a dot per spot, but a dot per face. Size of dot should vary on the amount of spots you have, but just remember that all you need is a thin layer.

For maximum effect, I suggest rubbing the gel at the specific spot in a circular motion and counting to 20/30. Online pages suggest three minutes, but when you have a lot of spots, you won't have enough energy to rub each spot for three minutes.

Cleanser - Toner - Essence/Lotion - Eye - Acne/Spot - Serum - Moisturizer

An alternative to rubbing, I also used my Pobling Mini Ion Applicator, which vibrates and claims to boost absorption of product into the skin.

I had high expectations for this product because of the saleslady's sales talk and because I had good results with the wash, but to be honest the results weren't anything dramatic. I compared the texture and the smell of this product to the Hiruscar gel, and similar to that gel, I also got slow (and less than satisfactory) results from this product.

I'm not saying that this product doesn't work however. I have noticed that it has faded some fresh scars. The downside to this is that it takes time and seems to not have any immediate of visible effects on old/deep scars.

A so-so product. It does what it's supposed to do, but there are better products that can probably do more at a faster speed. Great packaging as well.

If I ever come across another buy one free one deal, I would definitely repurchase this, but in normal circumstances I wouldn't because of reasons already stated above.

  1. Thank you very much for the review. I found your website very informative and helpful. After reading this article I came to know how to remove spots caused by pimples.

  2. I should have read this review before purchasing it!! Thanks for sharing the tips and trick. Didn’t know that I need to massage the spot cos I only slather it on my face and hoping it works. Going to get the oxy one instead since it works on u. Thanks!
