Hada Labo Whitening Milk Review

June 27, 2015

Hello, my readers! Today I'll be reviewing Hada Labo's Whitening Milk!

I first came across this product when I bought Hada Labo's starter kit (which costs RM19). It came together with a wash, their whitening lotion and this whitening milk. I already did a review on the full sized whitening lotion, so click here if you're interested in reading that.

Anyways, I absolutely loved this whitening milk! Its actually a moisturizer and combined with the whitening lotion, these products have been my holy grail in having plump and hydrated skin!

So without further ado, on with the review!

*disclaimer: This is not a sponsored post. I bought this product with my own money and this is my honest review*

WHAT IS IT?

As I mentioned, this product is a moisturizer and it contains Shirojyun. It also contains Arbutin which is an extract from natural plants such as bearberry, which has natural whitening properties.

After reading the print at the back of the bottle, this product claims to be able to achieve:

1. Deep moisturizing
2. Intensive repair
3. Double whitening
4. Help fight dark spots and re-balance skin tone (with Arbutin)
5. Achieve a uniform skin tone and reawaken dull skin (with Vitamin C)
6. Provide long lasting moisture to skin (with Hyaluronic Acid)

This product is actually labelled by Hada Labo as a milk, rather than a moisturizer. That may be confusing to people who are new or not familiar with Japanese or Korean skincare. Basically, a milk (or emulsion in Korea) is a moisturizer with a milky consistency that works better for people with oily skin types. Emulsions (and gels) work better that cream moisturizers because they aren't as heavy and can seep into the skin and hydrate it better.

WHERE TO BUY?

I bought this for RM58.90 in Watsons and I bought the full sized bottle a few months after I bought the full sized bottle of the lotion. All you need for your whole face is literally 2-3 drops and it took me forever to finish the small 30ml starter size! Therefore, although the price is a bit heavy (for college students that is), rest assured that this product is worth it and will last you a very long time.

PACKAGING

The full sized bottle comes in 140ml and i the packaging is very similar to the lotion.

INGREDIENTS

TEXTURE AND FRAGRANCE

The texture of this milk is similar to the milk that we drink, but a bit stickier. Its lighter than a cream moisturizer which makes it perfect for oily skin types.

The skin DOES feel a bit sticky after application but its not an uncomfortable stickiness. I find that Japanese (and Korean) people like their skin to be a bit dewy. The sheen that you get after using this product isn't too drastic or oily, just a nice dewy sheen.

HOW TO USE?

Korean skincare routines use the concept of layering, which means you apply the thinnest onto your face first, followed my the thicker ones.

In the morning, I apply it after my lotion and before my sunblock.

Cleanser - Toner - Lotion - Acne - Moisturizer - Sunblock

If I have any pimples, I apply my acne spot gel before it.

At night, I usually use it after my serum to lock all the products into my skin while I sleep.

Cleanser - Toner - Lotion - Acne - Serum - Moisturizer

I apply two to three drops of this onto my palms and press onto my skin until the product it fully absorbed. Since its a milk you have to press it in until your skin kinda sticks to your palms.

MY REVIEW

Deep hydration: I would say this product does a very good job of hydrating skin. As you may or may not already know, I have oily skin and I used to use creams on my face instead of gel because I didn't know that it was bad for me. I learned that I should opt for something lighter and this milk does an amazing job of hydrating my skin without suffocating it and leaving that icky feeling.

Whitening: In terms of whitening I don't think it did much of a difference. It did help my face look clearer though, which leads us to:

Even skin tone: Yes! This product helped to even my overall skin tone and make my face brighter (at least in my opinion!).

MY VERDICT

I love this product! Its very suitable for my oily skin and hydrates it very well without leaving an icky feeling or suffocating it. Paired together with the whitening lotion, these products have become my holy grail to plump and hydrated skin. After all, oily skin DOES NOT equal to hydrated skin. Your oily skin might be producing more oil because its lacking in moisture! This helps moisturize my skin enough so that although I have a light sheen due to my natural oils coming out at the end of the day, I don't look super oily like I'm ready to be deep fried like chicken.

WILL I REPURCHASE?

Yes! I shall repurchase this product when I finish it (whenever that day comes hahaha). Its very worth the money and does what its supposed to do.
