Garnier Light Complete Multi-Action Whitening Cream Review

June 27, 2015

Today I will be reviewing Garnier's Light Complete Multi Action Whitening Cream with SPF15 PA+!

I got this cream a looooong time ago, when I first moved to Penang to study. At the time I got this I still had a lot of "active" pimples on my face and I really just needed something to shield my skin from the sun. Out of impulse I bought this cream. There are pros and cons to it, so without further ado, on with the review!

*disclaimer: I was not paid to make this review. I bought this with my own money and this is my honest review*

WHAT IS IT?

This product is a cream that aims to achieve fairer and more even. It contains Long Dan extract and Pure Lemon extract. The main effects that this cream claims to be able to do are:

1. Diminish dull & dark spots in 28 days
2. Have fairer and more even skin

WHERE TO BUY

I bought this from the Guardian outlet near my hostel back then and I can't remember how much I bought it for. I checked Watson's website though, and found out that it retails for RM23.20 and with their current promotions was sold at RM15.08. For 50ml of product I would say that it's affordable and cheap, especially for students. I think the price was what attracted me to buy the product hahaha.

PACKAGING

The cream comes in a tub form which I learned after time and experience was quite annoying and unhygienic. The tub is made of thick glass which is good. I'm known to drop things so that kinda assured me.

INGREDIENTS

TEXTURE AND FRAGRANCE

The texture is rich and creamy and I wouldn't really recommend it to people with oily skin types like me. After spreading it out it leaves a thin white cast on the skin. Since Malaysia has a very warm climate, I found that the cream melted and made my skin kinda oily/shiny/sticky.

HOW TO USE

I currently don't use this product anymore (more on that later) but when I did I applied it after my morning skincare products as a moisturizer/sunblock.

MY REVIEW

When I used this product, I applied it during the day and at night I applied my Vitamin C Effector Serum from It's Skin (click here to see review). I also did lemon facials frequently for my acne and I think all that vitamin C managed to effectively lighten my skin. Not drastically. but it did have effect. I remember one day my sister told me that I looked a bit fairer. So in terms of effects, it does its job.

As it is a cream its not very suitable for people with oily skin types like myself. At the time I didn't know this and kept on using this cream. I remember seeing myself in the mirror and had to use blotting sheets/tissues to wipe the excess oil off my skin. Pair my oily skin with the hot & humid Malaysian weather, the cream eventually melted on my face and made it sticky and oily.

MY VERDICT

In the end I don't think this cream is for me. The effect was quite okay but there are way too many cons for me. If you have dry to normal skin or if you live in a fairly cool climate, then I'd recommend you to try this out. For my fellow oily skinned Southeast Asian, better not. Another thing is that SPF15 is not enough in a country like Malaysia. I understand that now.

WILL I REPURCHASE?

Nope, I don't think I'll be repurchasing this product.
