Banila Co Clean It Zero Vita-Pumpkin Cleansing Balm Review

November 19, 2020

Hi guys, today I'll be sharing all about Banila Co's new Clean It Zero Vita-Pumpkin Cleansing Balm.

If you're someone who's very into K-beauty, I'm sure you've heard of Banila Co and their cult-fave cleansing balms. Available in 4 original variants (Original, Revitalizing, Purifying & Nourishing), they were reformulated, rebranded and repackaged a few months back into their current pastel and minimalist packaging,

I used to be a big fan of their cleansing balms back then, and I think their cleansing balms are something that every K-beauty lover has tried once. Their balms are amazing at removing makeup gently, and I remember really liking their textures.

Recently, they also launched a new variant: the Vita-Pumpkin!

With the same sherbert-balm type of texture, this product is a perfect combination of natural oils and natural water for deep and effective cleansing. Not only does it remove leftover makeup, it also promoses to remove sebum inside pores without irritating the skin.

WHERE TO BUY
This is currently available on Banila Co's official website for KRW18,700, which is around MYR68/USD17.

If I find any available Malaysian retailers, I'll update this post!

PACKAGING
Like all of their new cleansing balms, the packaging is pretty similar, just that it's in a new orange colour:

There's English on the box so it's easy enough to understand:

Both the box and the tub and sealed:

And inside, you actually get an inside cover which not only acts as a second cover for even more hygienic protection but also as a place to store the spatula! I love this tiny detail that they thought about.

Ergonomically I find this whole setup to be really nice to work with, and the lid is tight enough that it doesn't sweat/is very airtight unlike the previous generations.

INGREDIENTS
As you may have already guessed, one this product's main ingredients is pumpkin. Pumpkin contains a lot of Vitamin C (that acts as a powerful antioxidant) & Beta-Carotene (a Vitamin A derivative). These work together to help soften the skin and boost its collagen production, effectively helping to prevent the signs of aging such as wrinkles, fine lines, and dark spots.

This product is paraben-free, sulfate-free, alcohol-free, silicone-free, EU allergen-free and contains minimal ingredients. The list of ingredients is mostly all EWG green-level ingredients:

Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, PEG-10 isostearate, Synthetic wax, Jojoba Seed Oil, 1,2-Hexanediol, Purified Water, Butylene Glycol, Fragrance, Tocopheryl Acetate, Retinyl Palmitate, C12-13 alkyl lactate, Sunflower Seed Oil, Lithospermum Officinale Root Extract, Cucurbita Pepo Fruit Extract, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Bambusa Vulgaris Leaf/stem Extract, Rooibosch, Angelica Root Extract, Acerola Extract, Corn Oil, Beta Carotene

These new and reformulated cleansing balms also used something which Banila calls as Zero Balance Technology, which means that their balms are formulated to provide deep cleansing + hydration for healthier skin.

FRAGRANCE & TEXTURE
The fragrance of this is just amazing! I was expecting it to only contain pumpkin ingredients, but I didn't expect it to smell like pumpkin too! The scent is like a sweet, candied pumpkin, and it is SO GOOD.

The texture of the balm is indeed very soft and sherbet-y:

Compared to their previous formulation, it feels lighter/not as thick.

HOW TO USE
To use this product, all you have to do is scoop up a bit of product and massage it gently on to dry skin/makeup. After you rub it in, add some water to emulsify the product and wash it off with water.

MY REVIEW AND VERDICT
I have to say, I used to love these balms for my face makeup but not so much for my eyes as I feel like they felt too thick. This new one, however, is amazing. Not only does it help to remove my base makeup effectively (without any residue compared to normal cleansing water), it's also super gentle on my eyes!

A little goes a long way, and I think this product is quite worth it (especially if you get it on any promo price). To be honest, one of the only differences I could find between this pumpkin version and the 4 normal variants is the amazing pumpkin scent. I would totally keep on repurchasing this just because I enjoy the scent so much! Taking makeup off at the end of the day can be a relaxing, almost aromatherapeutic experience with this balm.

Aside from clean skin that does not feel dry and actually feels supple/hydrated after cleansing, I have to say that. I have to use it longer to see if it does have any anti-ageing benefits.

WILL I REPURCHASE
As it fulfils its main purpose of removing makeup and cleansing my face properly without drying it, I give this product 5 stars out of 5! I didn't know how Banila could top their already popular formulations, turns out all they could. The scent is totally to die for, and I highly recommend this product!

And that's it for this post! I hope you guys found it helpful and informative.

See y'all in my next post!
