Lululun now available in Malaysia! • Hydrating Daily Mask Review

October 8, 2019

Hi guys, today I'll be sharing all about Lululun's Daily Toner Masks!

Made to provide the skin special care on a daily basis, Lululun is the #1 top selling facial mask brand in Japan! With over 50 billion pieces sold since 2011, these masks also won the Best Cosme Award for 5 consecutive years, further proving how popular they are in Japan! They're now available here in Malaysia and I recently tried them out.

Before I get into my experience using the masks, I wanna share a little more about why Lululun is so popular + what makes their masks special.

These masks are actually daily toner masks and compared to using your usual toner, these toner masks have a 65% higher moisture absorption rate. They're also able to reach more areas of your face compared to when you tone it with a normal cotton pad.

Made in Japan + allergy/patch tested, Lululun's masks are alcohol-free, additive-free, colour-free, fragrance-free and mineral oil-free. They're also environmentally friendly because they come in weekly and monthly packs!

One of the things that makes these masks so popular is that since you use it on a daily basis, they're available in weekly and monthly packs. Not only do you save money, but you also don't produce that much waste (which I think is great!

There are 2 series (the Classic Series and the Precious Series), and each series has 3 variants. Both series are available in either a weekly pack or a monthly pack.

I decided to try out the Lululun Hydrating Mask out first because it's supposed to be the most popular variant out of all of their masks.

While the other monthly masks come with 32 sheets, this one actually comes with 36! It's so popular that Lululun created a value pack.

The 7 sheet version costs RM19.80, while this 36 sheet value pack costs RM85.80. This means each mask costs RM2.38

The packaging is pretty simple. Once you remove the protective sheathe, you get a resealable cover + a seal. You can break the seal to get the masks + seal it back.

On the packaging, it says that it contains 520ml. Usually a bottle of toner contains 100ml/150ml, so 520 is well above that. If you divide it per mask, you're supposed to get 14ml per mask.

There isn't really any English on the packaging, but the Lululun masks distributed here in Malaysia come with a sticker for more info:

They're made of 100% cotton & microfiber, making them stretchable + comfy to use on a daily basis. Though they're stretchable, I find that the mask doesn't fit me like a glove and I have to cut it at some parts.

This mask features a unique 3-layer structure design! The middle layer is supposed to retain the skin toning lotion, while the two outer laters helps the essence to penetrate the skin deeper.

These masks are designed for daily use and you only need to put them on your face for 10-15 minutes after cleansing. You pat in the extra essence and seal it all off with your moisturizer.

Compared to other daily sheet masks I've used, this has the most essence. I have to admit, however, that it cannot compare to the essence in an individually packed mask.

I was pretty surprised how hydrating this mask was + how much essence it managed to soak my skin in. After 10 minutes, it still wasn't dry + still had some juice left.

Since this product is supposed to be used as a toner mask, I use it like how I would a normal toner and use it t tone/wipe my face as well. In this sense, this mask is quite multifunctional. You cover toning + masking with only one product.

After analyzing the ingredients, I found that it's quite clean and contains mostly EWG green-level ingredients with a few yellow ones, meaning it's highly unlikely to irritate the skin.

This product is sulfate-free, alcohol-free, silicone-free & EU allergen-free. It contains Citric Acid which is good for anti-ageing/suitable for sensitive skin, as well as highly moisturizing ingredients (Butylene Glycol, Sodium PCA and Glycerin) that those with dry skin with enjoy.

After using these masks at night for a week, I think they're quite nice! I sometimes skip sheet masks because they can be quite thick, but since this is lightweight, it's more comfortable. Since it's supposed to be used as a toner mask as well, I usually tone my face like I normally would after letting it sit for 10-15 minutes. I like how the cotton mask is able to remove dead skin cells from my face, and I like how it doesn't break apart/tear as well.

In terms of hydration, I think they're okay. They definitely hydrate the skin more than how an essence would without the thickness of a usual 25ml/30ml sheet mask. Since I use this at night, I would still layer on my serums + moisturizer. If you use this during the day it would be enough hydration to last you the whole day when paired with a good moisturizer/sunblock! I did not break out at all after using these masks and found them quite hydrating. The finish isn't sticky, and it's perfect for layering more products if you so wish.

Overall I think its a nice concept. You get daily hydration that keeps your skin hydrated & moist, and you don't produce as much waste as well. I would recommend this to those who love to mask but are looking for a more affordable option for daily use!

And that's it for this post! I'm definitely going to try out the other masks after going through this one, and I can't wait to see what the differences are.

If you guys are interested in getting one for yourself to try out, Lululun is now available in all SASA stores in Malaysia! Drop by any SASA store today to check them out.

Now excuse me as I go put on another mask~
