I'm From Rice Toner Review

October 30, 2019

Hi guys, today I'll be sharing about I'm From's Rice Toner!

WHAT IS IT
I'm From's Rice Toner is made with 77.78% Rice Extract which is known as an effective ingredient in brightening the skin and helping with elasticity care. This toner says that it forms a protective barrier over the skin to prevent water loss and eliminate dead skin cells, providing lustre and moisturization to rebalance dry and tired skin.

This toner is cruelty-free and is free from ethanol, silicon, steroid, artificial colouring and artificial fragrance as well. The packaging itself says that this is a special product for wrinkle & whitening effect.

WHERE TO BUY
You can get I'm From's products and this toner in particular from Wishtrend's website for USD28. It contains 150ml worth of product, and I would say the price to size ratio is pretty okay. It comes in a luxurious glass bottle too, so I definitely think the price is validated in terms of packaging and amount of product.

PACKAGING
The 150ml glass bottle comes packaged in a box:

The ingredients, description and instructions are in English, and some descriptions can be found on the bottle as well:

The cap is a twist-off type:

And it comes with a hygienic seal when you first open it:

INGREDIENTS
Aside from being free from ethanol, silicon, steroid, artificial colouring and artificial fragrance, after analyzing it I found that it's also paraben-free, sulfate-free, alcohol-free, silicone-free & EU allergen-free.

The ingredients are quite minimal and are all EWG green-level rated, meaning that this product is very unlikely to cause any irritations. Some ingredients I'd like to highlight are those that help with brightening (Niacinamide) and anti-aging (Niacinamide & Adenosine). This toner also contains powerfully moisturizing ingredients (Butylene Glycol) that those with dry skin will enjoy.

If you didn't already know, Yeoju in Korea is very popular for it's rice. During the Joseon dynasty, Yeoju was a major agricultural producer of staple foods such as rice. Throughout the dynasty, various laws were passed to increase the agricultural output and improve the quality of the rice which led to Yeojubecoming central to the rice industry.

The I'm From Rice Toner boasts 77.78 rice extract as it's first and main ingredient, and rice water, particularly fermented rice water, has several benefits for the skin. It’s rich in minerals, antioxidants, Vitamin B, Vitamin E and even traces of pitera (a natural byproduct of the fermentation process made famous by SK-II). These minerals and antioxidants help to purify and smooth the skin, working to minimize fine lines and decrease the appearance of pores.

TEXTURE & FRAGRANCE
Through the bottle, you can see that the product bit white in colour and almost looks like milk:

The toner is light in texture and has a light scent that fades away after it's absorbed.

It's not sticky nor is it uncomfortable. It's quite light on the skin, but there is a super super slight shine/barrier formed on the skin after you apply it.

HOW TO USE
I'm from advises shaking the bottle well before using it. I usually apply some on a cotton pad and swiping it onto the face in an upward motion, followed by patting in 2-3 drops gently into my skin with my hands.

MY REVIEW AND VERDICT
I've used this toner for almost 3 weeks now and I find it to be quite nice. What I like most about it is the feeling after using it where my skin feels soft and moisturized. I did not break out at all after using this, and I even use it sometimes as a mask to treat my skin. I simply soak cotton pads in the toner and leave it on my cheeks and forehead for 15 minutes.

If you're someone with acne skin, I think you can opt for a different toner. This toner is more on the brightening/anti-ageing side for me, and I would not use it if I needed to soothe/calm my skin. That said, if you're someone looking to incorporate anti-ageing benefits, I recommend giving this a go! It's super light which makes it awesome for layering, and the finish is not bad as well. Although it did not show any immediate effects (even when used as a mask), it did help give my skin an evener tone + helped make it glow a bit. Because it is cruelty with green, minimal ingredients, I will continue to use this toner in my routine. If you're someone in your early 20s looking for an anti-ageing and brightening toner, I would give this a go. If you're someone more mature, depending on your preference, you might want something richer (or you might like the lightness as well, really depends).

WILL I REPURCHASE?

Personally, if I needed another anti-ageing toner I would. However, if I had 0 toners left and were super desperate to buy one, this would not be my 1st pick. It's a nice toner, just not my favourite.

And that's all for this post! I hope you guys found my review helpful and informative.

See y'all in my next post!
