Where I Stayed in Bali • Agoda Review

July 15, 2019

Hi guys, today I'll be sharing about the places my group and I stayed at in Bali + my experience with Agoda.

To start this off, no, this post was not sponsored in any way by Agoda. I actually wanted to book on different platforms (Airbnb, Homeaway, Booking) so that I could do a comparison post, but we ended up booking everything on Agoda! One of the main reasons was because the selection was the biggest + the prices were super low. It was also because the first place we booked on Booking.com cancelled on us + refused to give us a refund (ugh, that's a whole other blog post).

Anyhoo, we settled for Agoda as the prices were bomb + lots of selection.

You also have the option of getting cashback via Shopback!

One of the gems we found on Agoda was The Lokha Ubud.

It's a resort villa with stunning views and pretty good facilities. The pool area is super instagrammable with a nice forest/mountain view:

And the entire area has a lodge vibe/design:

Their rooms usually go for RM1000+, but Agoda slashes the prices down by a lot. The peak season price for July/August (now that I'm checking) is RM400:

But the price that we saw during the off-peak season was only RM279!
(Sorry for the pic above, couldn't find a screenshot in my laptop and only found this on my IG story archive haha)

We booked one night (May 20-21) on May 6, and being that it was booked 2 weeks before our stay, we were pretty surprised that it was still quite cheap. We only realized when we were in Bali that it was off-peak season (peak is June - August). If you're planning on coming to Bali, I recommend coming around May like us as it is just before Hari Raya/summer when most tourists come.

Most (if not all) of Agoda's stays have a free cancellation policy where you cancel it for free as long as you do it before a certain date. Your booking is usually on charged on your card 1-2 weeks before your stay, so I recommend just booking a place if you like it, and just cancelling it later if you find a better place.

Since there were three of us, we opted for an extra bed, and one night cost us a total of RM497.44

A few days later base fee dropped even lower from RM279 to RM238! If you don't take an extra bed like we did, RM238 is ultra-cheap for a resort! By that time we noticed that the price had dropped, the free-cancellation period had already expired so we couldn't rebook. It was only a couple of RM less so we didn't really mind hahaha.

As we were so impressed with our Lokha booking, we decided to book all our other stays on Agoda. We decided to book a different stay for each night that we were in Bali because we would be exploring different parts of Bali + it would be more convenient to stay in each area than wasting time on long car rides during the day.

Stay #1 - May 17 to 18: Balisani Padma Hotel • RM71.63

Stay #2 - May 18 to 19: DD Ubud Jungle Villa • RM214.70

Stay #3 - May 18 to 19: Puri Bali Hotel • ~RM161.10

Stay #4 - May 19 to 20: Natya Hotel Tanah Lot • RM248.32

Stay #5 - May 20 to 21: The Lokha Ubud Resort • RM497.44

Had a deposit of IDR1M, refundable at checkout

Our accommodation totalled up to RM1193.19, making it RM397.73 per pax or ~RM80 per night each. I think it was a pretty good, and definitely think we managed to get a good deal.

As I mentioned above, you can use Shopback to get even more money back. You can also earn AgodaCash after booking on Agoda. All you have to do is look for and book accommodations that have the AgodaCash badge. The amount you have earned on these bookings will be automatically credited to your account after you have checked out from the accommodation, and you can simply apply AgodaCash to your booking during checkout. The more you book, the more you earn!

They payment method was pretty smooth, and their customer service was pretty responsive. Some stays require you to pay in cash when you check-in (like DD Ubud), but I didn't really mind that.

I'll be sharing my thoughts about each of the places we stayed at, so if you'd like to read more about each place, click here!

And that's it for this post! Thanks for dropping by my blog, see ya next time!
