The Swimming Club, The KL Journal Hotel • Staycation & Pool Party

September 26, 2018 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Hi guys, today I'll be sharing about my recent stay at The KL Journal Hotel & our pool party at their new rooftop swimming club/bar called The Swimming Club!

If you guys remember, I posted last year about the Escape with Traveloka event I attended with The Butterfly Project. It was a Christmas staycation event held in The KL Journal Hotel where a few of us bloggers got to experience the new hotel & catch up with each other.

At the time, the pool was still being completed, so it only looked like this:

But now, it's been renovated and is now called The Swimming Club!

In this post I'll be sharing all about it, as well as what my team from work did for the rest of the day & our stay in the KL Journal Hotel!

So the day started off with a buffet lunch at the Grand Millenium Hotel:

Followed by a surprise for our birthday girls Sydney & Syahira! We booked a hand massage at Jo Malone Pavilion:

We were supposed to surprise them by getting them each a perfume, but we all ended up getting one for ourselves so as to take of Jo Malone's current SST-less prices! Each 100ml bottle only cost RM485 which is the cheapest price I when compared to the prices in all of JM's international websites. About RM30 cheaper that Thailand and almost RM100 cheaper that US!

Let's take a moment to appreciate my boy scout themed outfit hahaha.

At around 5pm, we checked into The KL Journal! As I mentioned at the start of this post, this was actually my 2nd time staying here. This time round, my roommate was Bo!

We got the Twin Duplex room and it was as amazing & spotless as I remembered:

The room was well lit and we had some nice greenery outside, as well as a view of Bukit Bintang/Lot10.

The bathroom is also exactly the same as my previous room:

After changing into our swimming gear, we headed upstairs to the 13th floor for some drinks! It was my first time visiting the newly renovated pool area and omg:

It's just stunning! It's barely recognizable from last time!

The Swimming Club is now super pink and is serving some real Grand Budapest Hotel vibes. The teal of the pool and the neon lights paired with the trendy furniture and colourful decor was just...si visually appealing!

We were welcomed by Jimmy (the F&B manager) and KL Journal's General Manager with welcome shots:

We then ordered more drinks and finger food:

After lounging about and taking a dip, Tammy then surprised the birthday girls with a birthday cake!

The whole day was actually secretly planned by our boss/mamasan Tammy, so huge props to her for organizing such a great day for us!

As the sun set, The Swimming Club's neon lights came to life:

Since the bar is open to the public, you can definitely come with your friends (or special someone) for some drinks in a trendy, aesthetic space:

Don't forget to snap the (soon to be iconic) neon name sign!

After freshening up, the girls and I gathered in Anis and Sydney's room for a sleepover party! We actually brought a pretty cheesy board game (that turned out to be quite fun hahaha) and played charades & other games throughout the night.

Bo and I actually got hungry and walked to McDonalds late at night to grab some late night snacks, and I also dropped by Watsons to buy a sheet mask. That's one of the things I like about KL Journal: it's in the heart of KL! It's literally a 10-minutes walk away from Pavilion, a 5minute's walk away from the nearest MRT and near so many shops/tourist attractions!

The next day, we feasted on The KL Journal's breakfast buffet:

And proceeded to the pool again for more pictures + pool time!

We were actually pretty lucky because the sun & lighting was perfect + the staff had rolled out the sun cover a bit so that the "The Swimming Club" name was visible!

We each had drinks by the pool (I had a super scrumptious Piña Colada):

and basked in the warm Malaysian sun. Here's September baby numero uno Syahira:

and here's September Baby numero dos Sydney:

Bo was living her whole bathrobe fantasy and tbh she looked amazing ahaha

The whole place was just so instagrammable and aesthetic! From the colour to the plants & decor, every inch was just picture perfect.

By the way, I've been relying less and less on DSLR and been depending more in my S9 for the past few weeks just because the camera is so amazing! All the pics in this post were taken by my S9, and the quality is prtty good right?

In between swimming and chilling by the pool, I also managed to get some beauty product snaps for my Instagram. Totally took advantage of my time there!

We swam till around 2.30 and checked out late at around 3pm.

A huge thank you to The KL Journal Hotel for having us and to Tammy for treating us and organizing such an awesome pool party & staycation for us!

If you're coming to KL, I really recommend staying in The KL Journal Hotel because on both times I stayed here, I just died like a log hahaha. The rooms are super comfy, the entire hotel is instagrammable and the new pool is just to die for! It's definitely a must-visit here in KL, and I don't think this will be my last stay. I will be back!

Till then, thanks for reading and I'll see y'all again soon!
