Some By Mi AHA BHA PHA 30 Days Miracle Toner Review

September 14, 2018

Hi guys, welcome back to my blog! Today I'll be sharing about Some By Mi's AHA BHA PHA 30 Days Miracle Toner.

Some By Mi is a brand that's been trending recently (especially on Instagram), and they're a brand that believes good ingredients are the key to clearing up your skin. They have a line called the AHA BHA PHA 30 Days Miracle Line comprising of a cleansing soap, toner, and serum, and I managed to get my hands on the cleansing soap and the toner.

Essentially, the products from the lines contain all the types of HA (including the trendy new PHA), and they're supposed to clear out your acne skin in 30 days. They have some pretty big claims and they're really confident in this line, even going so far as to have "real life" videos on their SNS (which are really convincing by the way).

The video is really convincing, right? I was super interested in these products after watching the video, and in today's post, I'll be sharing all about my experience with them.

WHAT IS IT
This toner contains AHA, BHA, and PHA and aims to rescue & relieve the skin. It will gently exfoliate the skin without irritating it, and it can be used by all skin types (even people with sensitive skin).

WHERE TO BUY
This toner is available on Stylekorean.com for USD18.72 (~RM78.80).

It comes in a 150ml bottle, and I would say the price is okay. It's not the cheapest toner out there, but I'd say they're still pretty affordable for an AHA/BHA/PHA toner. The Cosrx toners go from USD20-25 (for 100ml bottles), so the fact that this costs less and has more products than Cosrx means its actually really affordable (because Cosrx is already considered to be the best price-quality for AHA/BHA toners).

PACKAGING
The products from the range come in a green and white box:

The toner's box is sealed so you know it's original and safe from tampering:

And the opening itself is sealed shut as well:

INGREDIENTS
Now you may be wondering, whats all the hullabaloo about AHA, BHA and PHA? AHA (alpha-hydroxy acid) and BHA (beta-hydroxy acid) are exfoliants that have gained popularity in the past couple of years, especially among people with oily, sensitive or acne prone skin. AHA and BHA removes impurities and sebum from the face, effectively ungluing dead skin cells. PHA (poly-hydroxy acid) is a new type of hydroxy acid that dissolves dead skin cells and prevents moisture loss in the skin.

With the help of these 3 hydroxy acids, this toner is supposed to remove blackheads, residue and dead skin from the skin. It also contains 10,000ppm of natural Tea Tree Extracts, and tea tree extracts are known to dramatically improve the skin without irritating it.

The rest of the ingredients have an EWG level rataing of 1-4, meaning that they're safe and very unlikely to irritate the skin. CosDNA marked Butene Glycol a an ingredient which could cause acne, but as I mentioned in mypast reviews, products with Butene Glycol have had no bad effect on my skin (no breakouts) and overall moisturizes my skin very well.

FRAGRANCE & TEXTURE
The toner is transparent in colour and smells very nice! It has a cool, minty scent (similar to peppermint oil) and absorbs pretty well into the skin. Its thin in texture and doesn't feel sticky after use (although it has a bit of oilyness to it, must be because of the tea tree extract). It also feels a bit cooling on the skin.

HOW TO USE
On the box, it says to soak a cotton pad with the toner and gently wipe it onto the skin afetr cleansing, patting it in afterwards to ensure absorption.

MY REVIEW & VERDICT
Off the bat, I think this toner is good, but not as miraculous as the visuals say it is haha. After using a third of the bottle, I find that it's hydrating, smells amazing and most importantly: keeps me acne free. If a toner can do that for me, I'm already happy. The nice scent and texture is another plus too!

It helped to calm and get rid of whatever small forming acne I had, and I do see some slight improvement on my light acne scars. However, I don't think it did a revolutionary job of fading my deep, dark acne scars.

Although my skin felt great and it was smooth & clear (of breakouts), my scarring stayed pretty much the same. Maybe the Miracle Serum would be more suited for fading my deep acne scars.

I used this quite religiously everyday and night because, well, I was hoping for a miracle like their videos hahaha. I later realized that the thing they show in the video disappearing is acne, and not acne scars. Since it did help me keep my acne at bay and prove to me that it really does combat acne well, I stillt think this product is a success and recommend it to you guys out there suffering from acne. If you are, however, looking for soemthing to fade deep & dark acne scars, this is not a quick fix. It may help in the long run (I'll continue to use it till it finished because like I said I like it), but there are faster and better ways to fade acne scars that I've tried before (like Vitamin C serum).

WILL I REPURCHASE
Just for keeping my horrible acne at bay, I would say yes. I would definitely repurchase this toner again. I've mentioned in my past reviews that I'm a fan of nice fruity scents, and I've grown quite attached to this tone ahaha. If a good deal comes by I'll definitely grab another bottle, and if I'm running out of toner and totally don't have anything with me, I'd definitely buy one more.

And that's all for this review! Sorry if it took so long, life's just been super busy and hectic for me.
