PURITO Snail Repair Advanced 91 Serum Review

March 23, 2018

Hi guys, welcome back to my blog! In this post I'll be sharing about PURITO's Snail Repair Advanced 91 Serum.

This post is actually a part of a series of reviews, and if you'd like to read all of my Purito reviews, click here!

Purito stands for Purify +  (tu/soil), and it means to find the pure and safe wonders of nature found in our soil. They understand that Korean cosmetics are all the rage, but instead of relying on hype, they want to focus on ingredients that will benefit the skin. They focus on natural ingredients as well as having only EWG Green Level ingredients in their products.

So in December last year, a website called eopenmarket.com got in touch with me and asked if I would be interested in giving an honest review of this product. Just a disclaimer, I was not paid to give a good review, and although the products were given to me via PR, my thoughts on them will still be my honest ones as usual.

Without further ado, let's get on with the review!

WHAT IS IT?
This serums is an all-in-one multi functional serum that promises to:

  1. Brighten skin tone
  2. Regenerate & heal skin
  3. Improve wrinkles
  4. Firm skin

It contains 91% concentrated snail mucus extract & also promises to clear acne, reduce dark circles & smoothen skin. To be honest, when I first saw this product's claims I was like...ok lo win lia lo hahaha. It promises so many things! But does it deliver? Read on to find out!

WHERE TO BUY?
A 60ml bottle normally costs KRW18,000/USD17, but on eopenmarket.com it retails for only $12.68/RM49. I think the price is quite worth it for the amount of product you're getting.

PACKAGING
Purito has quite a few serum variants, but all of them are packaged simiarly in a plastic pump bottle. I don't have any problems with it, but I do advise you guys to be careful when pumping out products as the pumps sometimes tend to be quite strong (all three Purito serums I have do this haha)

INGREDIENTS
So as I mentioned, all of the ingredients in this product have an EWG green level rating (click here to view all ingredients). It has Niacinamide with is great for brightening + Adenosine which is great for anti-aging.

I screened this on SkinCarisma and found that this product would be great for people with dry skin as it contains powerfully moisturizing ingredients like cucumber extract and sodium hyaluronate. The Allantoin & Camellia Sinensis leaf extract will also be great for people with oily skin as they're both soothing and offer skin protection.

If you have sensitive skin, however, you might want to do a few spot tests before applying this to your face as it contains 5 different oils that could potentially irritate the skin (lavender, orange, eucalyptus, lemon & Canaga Odorata Flower oil).

TEXTURE + HOW TO USE
I made a video showing how I use these Purito products for my morning and night skincare routine, and you can watch it here:

This serum is transparent in colour and has a faint smell that reminds me of massage oil. Not very heavy, but just barely there. The texture is not too watery and not too thick, and I find that it absorbs very quickly into my skin. Its slighlty cooling + doesn't leave a sticky finish if you apply only a bit. The finish isn't shiny so I tend to reach out for this serum during the day.

MY REVIEW + VERDICT
After using it for a while now, here's what I think on each of the product's claims:

  1. Ingredients
I'm not sure if it was because of the oils, but when  I applied this to an area where 1 pimple was forming, it came to a head and 2 smaller bumps appeared. I immediately stopped using this serum on my pimple areas and calmed that area down first with some aloe gel and pimple patches afterwards. It was kinda weird because all the ingredients are supposedly non-irritating, and I don't have sensitive skin so it shouldn't have affected me that much...I tested it on clear skin after that, and I had no side effects. My advice would be to not use this on any areas with active breakouts or you might experience what I did.
  2. Brighten skin tone
I did see a improvement in my skin tone, but not a lot. Since I tend to be more biased to Vitamin C serums for skin tone brightening, I admit I didn't really use this product with the intent of lightening my skin bur rather to heal it. I did see a slight brightening after using it for 1 straight week, but in my personal opinion if you're looking for better results, try a Vitamin C serum instead.
  3. Regenerate & heal skin
Remember that one area that broke out? Well after it had calmed down I tried this on top to see how well it could heal that area, and I'd say it was pretty ok. I saw the spots lighten after 2 weeks and it was smooth again (no more bumps), but...meh.
  4. Improve wrinkles & Firm skin
I can stand for this product's moisturization & plumping! I pair it with Purito's Fermented Essence in the morning and I have to say that combo is really good. I find myself feeling very plump, fresh & juicy when I apply that duo together in the morning.

WILL I REPURCHASE?
In all honesty, this product is just...meh. I think for the price you're paying you're getting quite good results in terms of moisturization, plumping and skin healing. However, I personally don't feel as attached to this serum as I am with my other serums, and I only like using it in the morning because of its non-shiny finish + great moisturizing abilities. If you asked me, however, to recommend you a product that could heal the skin or moisturize it well, this wouldn't be the first product on my list. So TL:DR, it's nice but I probably won't repurchase this.

And that was it for this review! As I mentioned, I reviewed a lot of Purito products recently, and you can check the others out by clicking here. Remember to like the video I made as well & subscribe to my channel for more demos & skincare routine videos!

I hope you found this post helpful & informative. See y'all in the next post!
