PURITO Sea Buckthorn Vital 70 Cream Review

March 26, 2018

Hi guys, welcome back to my blog! In this post I'll be sharing about PURITO's Sea Buckthorn Vital 70 Cream.

This post is actually a part of a series of reviews, and if you'd like to read all of my Purito reviews, click here!

Purito stands for Purify +  (tu/soil), and it means to find the pure and safe wonders of nature found in our soil. They understand that Korean cosmetics are all the rage, but instead of relying on hype, they want to focus on ingredients that will benefit the skin. They focus on natural ingredients as well as having only EWG Green Level ingredients in their products.

So in December last year, a website called eopenmarket.com got in touch with me and asked if I would be interested in giving an honest review of this product. Just a disclaimer, I was not paid to give a good review, and although the products were given to me via PR, my thoughts on them will still be my honest ones as usual.

Without further ado, let's get on with the review!

WHAT IS IT?
This product is a moisturizer that contains up to 70% sea buckthorn fruit extract. Sea buckthorn is rich in vitamin C, and they usually contain up to 2000mg of vitamin C. Its known to be great at soothing tired skin as well as protecting the skin from the environment.

This product contains lots of different vitamins, and the efficacies that these vitamins promise are

  1. Lifting (with Vitamin A)
  2. Soothing & nutrition (with Vitamin B)
  3. Whitening & anti-aging (with Vitamin C)
  4. Boosting skin's immune system (with Vitamin D)
  5. Protecting skin from external factors (with Vitamin E)
  6. Anti-bacterial effect (with Vitamin P)
  7. Anti-aging (with Vitamin K)

WHERE TO BUY?
A 50ml tube of the cream originally costs USD17/KRW18,000, but on eopenmarket.com, it retails for only $12.68/RM49. I think the price is pretty reasonable, especially for the results it provides! (Read on to find out why!)

PACKAGING
The cream comes in a hygienically sealed tube, and it's pretty easy to control the amount that is dispersed. Most creams tend to go for tube form, and although you can use the product till the very last drop that way, most of the time companies don't provide spatulas. I really like how this cream comes in a tube so it's easy to use + is very hygienic.

INGREDIENTS
As I mentioned, this cream contains Sea Buckthorn fruit extract which is full of Vitamin C. Instead of diluting it with water like other sea buckthorn creams, Purito uses 70% extract. They contain natural orange peel oil, include no artificial fragrance and all of the ingredients in this product have an EWG green level rating:

Aside from the plethora of vitamins included (Vitamin A, B, C , D, E, K & P), this product includes ingredients which are skin brightening (Vitamin C & Niacinamide), anti-aging (Niacinamide & Adenosine) as well as wound healing (Panthenol). People with dry skin will also enjoy the powerful moisturizing ingredients (Panthenol, Butene Glycol, Sodium Hyaluronate) included in this as well.

TEXTURE + HOW TO USE
I made a video showing how I use these Purito products for my morning and night skincare routine, and you can watch it here:

This cream is white in colour and has a very nice orange scent. The images on the website looked thick, but in reality the texture is actually thinner than I had expected. It's more of a light gel consistency and I think it's perfect for my oily skin. It feels light + refreshing, it absorbs well & I only need a bit to cover my entire face. It's not too sticky if you apply the correct amount as well.

Its recommended to use this with the Vitamin C serum as they work together to soften the skin + really brighten it:

You can mix it, but I personally like apply them separately (serum first followed by cream) just because the serum always pumps way too much haha.

MY REVIEW + VERDICT
I mentioned that the Fermented Essence is my #1 fave Purito product, and I think this is my #2. I love the texture & the scent + how well it works with Vitamin C serums!

After using it for a while now, here's what I think on each of the product's claims:

  1. Whitening & Brightening
I think this product is great at brightening the face and making it look glowy. I didn't see a dramatic whitening effect but I did notice that my skin tone looked more even + had that glowy look. It also worked well with the Vitamin C serum in fading my acne scars and speeding up skin turnover!
  2. Moisturizing & Firming
As a gel cream, I think this product performs well at plumping the skin and keeping it moisturized for a long time. Using just toner + this cream alone, my Wayskin moisture reading was 97% and went down to 90% after 4 hours (of me being in an aircon room too, mind you).
  3. Soothing & Wound healing
This cream didn't break me out, and as I mentioned it helped to fade some acne scars. I didn't apply it to any open wounds, but I did try putting it on active pimples and it didn't irritate it or anything.
  4. Lifting & Anti-aging
I don't really have sagging skin, but this cream does help to plump skin + keep it soft for quite a while.

WILL I REPURCHASE?
110% YES! I really like the moisturzing ability + acne scar properties of this cream. I also think that this is the perfect texture for my oily skin! I mostly only use it in the evening because I tend to avoid Vitamin C in the morning, an d because of that I really wanna try the other variants lol. But overall I would really recommend this product to you guys!

And that was it for this review! As I mentioned, I reviewed a lot of Purito products recently, and you can check the others out by clicking here. Remember to like the video I made as well & subscribe to my channel for more demos & skincare routine videos!
