Orkid Cosmetics Matte Suede Cream Liquid Lipstick Review

July 27, 2017

Hi guys, today I'm going to be sharing with you guys my review of Orkid Cosmetics' Matte Suede Cream Liquid Lipsticks!

Orkid Cosmetics is a local Malaysian cosmetics brand that's halal, 100% cruelty free and vegan. I've been seeing a lot of local brands popping up recently and I first heard about Orkid Cosmetics from my friend DaintyDashBeauty.

So far I think they released a total of 10 shades and I got 4 of them.

Each one costs RM39, which is affordable and around the price point of other local liquid lipsticks here in Malaysia. Each of the lips come in a simple transparent plastic unit and they also came with some stickers that you can stick on the unit for decoration. Each of the lipsticks came packaged in a super sleek box.

The hot stamping and the pattern at the side of the box omg I cannot. I feel like packaging is always something that I pay lots of attention too and Orkid definitely did not disappoint haha. All the boxes came in a blue bubble wrap plastic:

Here's the official description for these lipsticks on Orkid's site:
Our liquid lipstick is a high-fashion matte finish which covers the lips in a rich colour. Glides on smoothly and is not sticky and non-transferable. We also added Vitamin E so it also moisturises the lips!
Ever since I started doing makeup I only stuck to lip tints and lip balms, and these are actually my first ever liquid lipsticks! I've been super excited to try them out because liquid lipsticks are EVERYWHERE, but at the same time the matte-ness kinda turned me off. Would they make my super dry lips even dryer?

The colours that I got are so prettay and I'd say they're still pretty safe for my colour range. Vibes is a milk chocolatey nude, Turnt is a warmer chocolate nude, Blush is a nude pink and Mars is a deep rose shade.

I actually wore the shade Turnt during the Butterfly Project's party so I managed to see how it would work throughout the course of a normal day (aka taking, sweating, eating, etc.)

Since my lips are very dry, I used a lip scrub first followed by a lip balm before applying it. I asked my friend Somethinkblack if I should use a lip liner and she said you should, but if you don't have one you can use a lip brush and use the lipstick itself to line your lips too.

It was pretty matte and did settle and dry pretty quickly. When I pressed my lips on the back of my hand there was only the slightest bit of colour transferring on it.

I'm not sure if I ate super eloquently or what, but the lipstick really lasted all day long that day! Once I got used to the feeling, I felt that it was light and didn't feel uncomfortable. Although the matte-ness of the lipstick was something new for me I really like how the shade looked and completed my look. It wasn't patchy and I managed to cover my lips fully in two dunks (second one was for touch ups).

I'm still experimenting on looks to go with the other shades, but I definitely recommend these lippies!
