Your Name 君の名は [Full Movie • Eng Sub/Chi Sub]

February 26, 2017

Hi guys, today I'll be sharing all about the Japanese movie Your Name! (Scroll down to the very bottom of this post to find the links to watch/download it)

As I mentioned in my previous movie post, I don't really like watching movies popular movies when they're first released. Reason number 1 is because I'm always broke, and reason number 2 is because I don't really like being "mainstream" in a sense hahaha.

Your Name was released last year, and seriously it was EVERYWHERE, on social media, in malls, just everywhere! I actually did plan to watch it by myself, but I guess work just caught up with me.

I was home in Melaka last week and I had a chance to download a lot of movies onto my hard disk, just for stock. Among the movies I downloaded was Your Name, and I actually didn't even plan on watching it anytime soon. The reason why I changed my mind was because my siblings were discussing it, and I just thought I'd end my curiosity and figure out why it was so popular.

First off, I had no idea what this movie was about. I saw the poster and just assumed that it was a romantic movie. Since a lot of people on Facebook say it made them cry and all that, I assumed it was your typical tearjerker. Boy, was I wrong.

It is kinda a sad romance, but it was so much more than I expected! The first part was interesting because of the switching body thing, but at that point I was like "meh, there have been other movies like this". By the middle I was HOOKED! The mysterious plot was there and the story flowed really nicely, giving you details one by one. As the movie progressed as was like "Whaaaat", "Really???" and "WTF??!!", especially that pen scene!

I also thought the string was gonna be the cliche "destiny is bound by red strings" thing, but it wasn't~

And the time difference? I was kinda mind blown to be honest haha

Overall this was a really great movie. I don't wanna spoil it so much, just go watch it if you haven't already!

Some other thoughts I had was that since I'm not really familiar with Japanese traditions, this was kinda of an eyeopener and a catalyst for me to Wikipedia more on the subject haha.

The comet was really something too! Now I totally wanna go comet gazing in a open field, preferably while in Japan (and if I don't die it'll be good as well haha)

And speaking of Japan, I follow this influencer on IG called Chanwon, and she actually visited some spots in Japan that were featured/referenced in the movie!

I think she'll be making a whole blog post about it soon, so do check her blog out! (Click here to be redirected~).

Hopefully one day I'll have enough money to see Japan for myself as well~

That was it for this short update. Hope to see you in the next post!
