Dr. Jart Pore Medic Pore Minish Primer

February 19, 2017

Hi guys, today I'll be sharing my review of Dr. Jart's Pore Medic Pore Minish Primer!

I got this primer a few months ago when Sasa had a clearance sale in Northpoint near my office. I also got the serum from the same series, but I haven't fully formed any opinions on it yet~

However, I have used the primer a lot, and I have to say I love it! Read on to find out more about it 💞

WHAT IS IT

I've never tried Dr. Jart products before, mainly because they're super pricey! Their BB cream is quite popular, and when I saw the price tag in Sephora...I was like OMG this is not a student pocket friendly brand. Anyways, that said, a lot of people like Dr. Jart products.

This primer in particular is described as a treatment primer that instantly diminishes the look of pores and lines, prevents oil and impurity buildup, and refines skin texture. It also claims to give a breathable, long-wear matte effect under makeup. I guess since it targets pores, it's supposed to control your oil secretion.

WHERE TO BUY

As I mentioned above, I got this primer together with the serum. It originally costs RM99, but during the sale I got it and the serum (which cost RM139) for only RM30! Crazy right?! I asked the salesgirl if it was fake, or if it was expiring soon. Apparently it was expiring at the end of 2017, so I was like "I'M TAKING THEM!". I kinda wish I bought more than one.

I saw that Althea.kr also carries this, but it's currently out of stock and I forgot to screenshot it when I saw it, so I can't tell you guys how much they're selling it for. Sorry!

PACKAGING

It comes in a lavender unicarton (I love the color omg) and the product itself is contained in a normal plastic tube:

New tubes come sealed:

INGREDIENTS

Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Propanediol, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimithicone Crosspolymer, Dimethicone, Glycerin, Betaine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Fomes Officinalis (Mushroom) Extract, Sodium Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Isohexadecane, Polysorbate 80, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit, Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil, Pinus Sylvestris Leaf Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil

As a "treatment primer", this primer claims to be able to treats and heals your skin, making your complexion smoother and your pores are less congested. It includes mushroom extract that works to tone skin while hyaluronic acid hydrates and nourishes for better elasticity. It also has a hypoallergenic formula and is free of parabens, sulfates, and phthalates.

TEXTURE AND FRAGRANCE

This serum has a gel texture, and it's transparent color. A lot of reviews I read says it has no scent, but it actually has a faint citrus-y scent (which I love)!

After spreading and absorbing into the skin, the skin looks smooth and matte, perfect getting your foundation to apply on smoothly.

HOW TO USE

The directions behind say to apply a small amount evenly before using makeup:

I usually dispense a small amount onto the back of my hand and dot it onto my forehead, nose, cheeks and chin. I then spread it out evenly. I let it absorb for a few seconds, then follow up with foundation.

MY REVIEW

Here are my thoughts on this products and its efficacies:

1. Diminish look of pores and lines
I don't have very big pores to begin with so I can't comment on that, but as a primer I think this product does a great job. It gives an awesome smooth base for my foundation to cling onto, and I did not notice any lines or creasing.

2. Prevents oil and impurity buildup
Although my pores aren't very visible, they do secrete a lot of oil. My oil usually seeps out of my foundation after a while, but I find that on a normal day where I don't sweat this primer can keep me oil free for up to 5-6 hours. It doesn't keep me totally matte however. I've had times when oil still has seeped out and I look dewy, but nothing too crazy. I don't mind looking dewy, I just don't want to look like I'm dripping in oil. So props to this for it's awesome performance!

3. Give breathable, long wear matte effect under makeup
When applied, it feels very light, so yes it is breathable. For the matte effect, I already mentioned it above~

4. Tones and hydrates skin
I have not seen any visible toning, but I can say that this primer is not drying at all.

MY VERDICT

I love this primer! As I said, I wish I could have bought more when it was on sale. The primer is currently running out, but it lasted me a good 4 months (I don't wear makeup everyday btw). I wanted to take a picture of my face after using the primer and foundation on top, but I realized that I only had one primer and that I use it every time hahaha.

It helps the makeup stick on better compared to how it would have been had I not used it~

WILL I REPURCHASE

If I see it in sale again, I'm definitely buying more than 1! Would I buy it for RM99? Probably not because it's way more than I can afford. But I guess through using this product I learned that expensive products are sometimes expensive for a reason.~ In the future if I find myself loaded I might repurchase this for full price.

And that's it for this review, thanks so much for reading! As always, I hope you enjoyed it and found it helpful & informative 💕

See y'all in the next post!
