Summer Korean Skincare Must Haves!

August 26, 2016

The weather in Asia for me consists of 80% heat and 20% rain. It always seems to be sunny out and temperatures keep rising each year. Summer time is when I usually get super oily and break out, so today I thought I'd share with you guys the products that I use to keep my skin in tip top shape during summer!

Etude recently relaunched their Zero Sebum line with more products and new packaging and this toner came with it. I specifically got it because I wanted a toner that didn't just get rid of oil but also helped control oil production. Since I only recently got it, do keep an eye out for the review!

One of my favourite gels, this product is my go-to moisturizer at night. Since it's summer time I tend to get lazy and sometimes I don't feel like layering my products on. This product is perfect because it hydrates, moisturizes and soothes the skin.

Also, if you spend your days under the sun, this product is great for sun burns! You can use it for other parts of your body as well.

One of my holy grail products, this lotion is my fave day (and sometimes night) moisturizer. The light texture of the lotion and the super hydrating effects make it perfect for summer! My skin always feels plump and juicy after using this.

Hydration is key if you want to control your oil/sebum production. Sometimes when you lack moisture, your skin will take it as a sign to create oil to balance your skin out. Oil isn't a totally bad thing, but too much oil can lead to breakouts so balance is important.

*PS. This product says whitening but it does not do that at all*

4. Laneige Sunblock Aqua+ SPF35 PA++

In this post I'm mentioning the SPF35 one, only because I couldn't find a big enough picture of the SPF50 sunblock (haha). I definitely recommend using a sunblock with SPF50 or above as it ensures maximum protection.

*I don't have any problems with the texture of Laneige's sunblocks, but since they're cream based I was thinking of trying more watery formulas like Etude House's Sunprise Milky Watery Light sunblock  which also has SPF50. But ya know, I'm broke so~*

This isn't Korean but I thought I'd include it anyway. I don't really do foundations or BB cream on a daily basis, but I do do my brows when I go to work. Since I prefer powder over pencil/cream at the moment, I use this primer to make my brows last longer. Otherwise it just smudges off really easy, especially when I sweat.

6. Etude House Zero Sebum Drying Powder

I've always been a fan of the Korean Dewy Look, so I don't mind going out looking slightly shiny. During this hot weather however, I've had a change of heart and I've been using this to mattify my face. It doesn't block pores and can be used directly on your skin as your last skincare product or as a setting powder after your base as well.

7. Clean & Clear Oil Control Film

There's no denying that oil will eventually come back to my face, so while at work I blot my excess oil with this film, followed by patting myself matte with the powder again.

8. Innisfree Aloe Revital Skin Mist

I don't actually have this product but one of my friends did and back in Penang I would always spray my face with it haha. I recommend it for people who do have base makeup and want to rehydrate their skin throughout the day.

Last but not least,

9. Water!

Remember to drink lots and lots of water! It keeps the skin healthy and the brain running.
