Etude House AC Clinic Daily Toner Review

January 30, 2016
Hello everyone! Today's post will be my review on Etude House's AC Clinic Toner!

This is part 2 in my double update this week! I also reviewed Etude House's AC Clinic Daily Acne Foam Cleanser which I bought together with this toner. Click here to read!

And don't forget to check out my review of Etude House's Red Spot Balm from a few months ago as well!

Okay, enough self promos! I bought this toner a few months ago because when I went to Melaka for my semester break, I suddenly started breaking out, especially around my jaw area. Because of my sudden breakouts I decided to try out and purchase new acne related product from one of my ultimate fave Korean skincare brands Etude House!

I've been interested in this toner for quite a while now but I've only recently was able to try it out. Back in 2014, I wanted to purchase this online but unfortunately it was out of stock. 2 years later, here I am to finally review it!

So without further ado, on with the review!

*Disclaimer: this is my honest review!*

WHAT IS IT

This product is part of Etude House's AC Clinic line which targets problem skin. This toner in particular was designed as a double cleanser/toner for people with combo, oily or acne prone skin.

Some of the things that this product claims to do/have are:
1. Clears and sanitizes acne surface
2. Low alcohol content suitable for acne prone skin
3. Water soluble moisturizing agent to prevent acne formation
4. Oil free formula supplies clean sensation

It contains papaya extract to smoothen skin, Salicylic Acid for antiseptic and antibacterial efficacy and Hinoki Cypress & Button Weed extracts for specialized acne care formula.

This product is also non-comedogenic (won't block pores) and is Dermatologist approved. Perfect for people with oily/acne prone skin like me!

WHERE TO BUY

I bought the full sized 150ml tube from Hermo.my for RM35.90, and I think the price is very good for the size of the product. The original product retails at RM59

PACKAGING

The product comes packaged in a green glass bottle with a plastic twist cap and I like that it kinda looks like a potion bottle.

When I was still researching this product, I was kind of apprehensive about the bottle being glass, but seeing as I haven't broken my essence bottle (yet), I decided to go for it (plus glass is really sleek). One bad thing is that when this product arrived, the bottle wasn't damaged but the plastic twist cap was cracked!

I was really disappointed with this. I could have returned the product to Hermo because they have a 14 day return policy, but since I couldn't really take my pimple anymore, I decided to just use it. It still works fine, its just that it looks ugly now that I've wrapped it with tape.

Other than that, it looks quite sleek. New bottles come sealed to ensure freshness and sterility of product!

INGREDIENTS

This wash has Salicylic Acid, an antiseptic and antibacterial ingredient which is a common ingredient in acne products.

It also contains papaya extract which:
- helps with would healing and skin repair
- helps with exfoliation
- helps with moisturization
- helps with antiageing
- helps with whitening

TEXTURE AND FRAGRANCE

Just like any toner, this one has a very runny liquid consistency.

It smells similar to the balm and the wash, which is minty, medicinal and clean.

HOW TO USE

Wash - Toner - Essence/Lotion - Acne/Spot - Serum - Moisturizer

After washing my face, I usually wipe it dry with a cotton pad. I then apply a coin sized amount of toner onto a cotton pad (about 5-6ish drops) and gently wipe my face in an upwards motion. After toner comes lotion/essence, and I usually apply acne cream and scar gel after that.

MY REVIEW

I use this product twice daily and it has not once broken me out. It effectively dried out the active pimple along my jawline as well. It leaves my face feeling clean and smelling great. It gets rid of excess sebum great and manages to somehow control your excess sebum production as well.

As for the efficacies promised in this product:

1. Clears and sanitizes acne surface
Yes! I had pimples that "exploded" and I was left with a sort of crater. I usually heal after a few weeks and this toner helped to disinfect the area that w as healing.

2. Low alcohol content suitable for acne prone skin
It does not smell like alcohol like other toners/astringents in the market. It's gentle but does its job very well.

3. Water soluble moisturizing agent to prevent acne formation
As I said, the consistency is very thin and it did not break me out as it is non comedogenic.

4. Oil free formula supplies clean sensation
I'm always left feeling squeaky clean after using the toner to double cleanse my skin!

MY VERDICT

I have to say I was not let down by this toner! I've looked forward to purchasing and using this product for quite a while and at the time where I most needed it (dramatic much) it didn't fail me! I definitely recommend this product to people who have oily or acne prone skin like me!

WILL I REPURCHASE

The price is affordable and effect-wise it delivers satisfaction as well. The only down side for me would be the broken cap but I think I just got unlucky. I would definitely repurchase this product as well!
