Biore UV AQUA Rich Watery Essence Review

October 12, 2015

Hello everybody, today's post will be a review of Biore's UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence Sunblock with SPF 50+ PA ++++!

I was almost out of sunblock so I decided to buy myself another tube. Biore is a famous Japanese brand that I've heard so many good things about, so this time round I decided to try their sunblock. They have a wide range of sunblocks to cater to every kind of skin type, so to me that was a good sign.

Without further ado, let's start!

*Disclaimer: I bought this product with my own money and was not paid to write this post. This is my honest review!*

WHAT IS IT

I'm sure you've heard of Biore one way or another. If you haven't Biore is actually a really popular Japanese skincare brand that is popular both in Japan and here in Malaysia/Singapore because of their affordability and their results.

As I mentioned above, they have lots of sunblocks available and I was torn between these two: The UV Perfect Milk and the UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence.

In the end, I went with the UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence because it was 50ml, gel type and had SPF50+ PA++++, similar to my previous sunblock, which is the Hada Labo Perfect UV Gel (click here to read review).

The UV Perfect Milk seemed promising as well, but it was 40ml, liquid consistency and only PA+++.

Anyways, the UV Aqua Rick Watery Essence boasts 3 main uses:

1. Long lasting UV protection
Has the highest level of UVA protection (PA++++) to prevent age spots, wrinkles, dullness and dryness of skin.

2. Water-like sensation
Formulated with Biore's first ever technology for ultra-light, non-sticky & refreshing water-like sensation.

3. Moisturizing make-up base
Keeps skin continuously hydrated with Royal Jelly extract, Hyaluronic Acid and Mixed Citrus Essence (made of orange, grapefruit and lemon extracts) for instantly smoother skin texture.

WHERE TO BUY?

I bought mine for RM36 in Aeon while my mum was grocery shopping, but it retails for RM32.30 in Watsons and RM30.70 in Hermo.my.

PACKAGING

The packaging is a flat blue tube which looks similar to Hada Labo's Perfect UV Gel, but this tube is matte which I absolutely adore.

The tube also comes sealed in plastic stuck to a cardboard.

INGREDIENTS

TEXTURE & FRAGRANCE

Similar to Hada Labo's UV Gel, this sunscreen is light and isn't sticky at all. It says that its a gel, but its more of a milk/water/gel hybrid with a water-like sensation. There is a slight fruity fragrance that I quite like.

The product is slightly yellow, but it has no effect on the skin at all.

One thing that I noticed when I swatched this on one had was that it made my skin softer after absorption! I tried it on my bare face as well, and I found the same results. Definitely a nice surprise.

I suggest a gel texture sunblock to people with oily skin like me because it will absorb better than cream ones. After absorption this leaves my skin with a slight dewy sheen, but nothing too oily or greasy. It looks natural and normal.

HOW TO USE

This product is of course only for day use and I usually apply it as the very last product during my day routine.

Cleanser - Toner - Lotion - Acne Treatment - Moisturizer - Sun Block

MY REVIEW

Compared to the Hada Labo UV Gel, I would say I prefer this more because of the sensation and the slight smell. As for the promised results:

1. Long lasting UV protection
I'm rarely under the sun but I do feel like this gives me sufficient sun protection.

2. Water-like sensation
The product is really very light and it feels as if you have nothing on your face. It does leave the skin with a slight dewy sheen, but I quite like the effect that it leaves. Overall sensation is great!

3. Moisturizing make-up base
Its also moisturizing as my skin doesn't feel oily nor dry with this on. As I mentioned above it makes the skin softer,  which I really like.

MY VERDICT

I really liked this sunblock. I liked Hada Labo's one, but Biore has won me over!

  1. Hi Eros,

Would you say that the Biore or Hada Labo is better for oily skin?

    Thanks x
